Mark promised to make our tenth anniversary unforgettable. He took me to "La Belle Époque," the fanciest place in town, and I thought it would be a perfect night.

We get there, I'm all excited, and I choose the lobster bisque and filet mignon. And that's when he drops, "How about a house salad? You're trying to lose weight, right? Maybe then you'll be able to wear that red dress I love next time."

It all started when I was in my university library. Dad called, sounding super urgent, and told me to come home right away. At home, I saw my stepmom, Linda, and her son, Jacob. He'd just blown through all the money Dad gave him to start a business in Hawaii. Jacob is 35 but acts like he's still in his 20s, always hanging out with friends and chasing some new scheme that always fails. I'm 18 now, but I've always been more responsible.

So, I've been giving my coworker Emily a ride to work for like a year because she lived close by. Now I'm going on maternity leave, and she has no clue how she'll get to work since she can’t drive and has no car.

I told her I couldn’t keep driving her once the baby arrived, and she said I should get my husband to drive her instead! I said no way, he needed his sleep and had his own job to get to. She got really upset about it and made a joke (or so I thought) that it was his fault I couldn't give her a ride anymore because he got me pregnant.

My husband went on a trip with our son and his brother to visit their mother. While cleaning, I saw an email on his iPad from an apartment complex about shutting down the hot water for repairs, addressed to him by his name. We own our house and haven't rented in over ten years, so this was odd.

In upstate NY, my husband had no service. I tried sending him a picture of the email, but it didn’t go through. When I called, the connection was poor, but I managed to explain. He said it must be a mistake and they had the wrong email.

If it was a mistake, how did they have his full name spelled correctly? There were no other emails from this sender, but my husband is meticulous about clearing his inbox. There was no unit number in the email, but the complex was about 15 minutes away.

It was a 14-hour flight, so I paid for a premium economy seat because I wanted to be comfortable.

The person in the next seat asked if I could switch seats with their wife as they had just gotten married and were on their honeymoon.
