After researching field recorders for this past China trip. I went went with the Marantz PMD661 MKIIhttp://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O&sku=898192&Q&is=REG&A=details. Other top contenders were the popular Zoom H4N http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/zoom-h4n-portable-digital-recorder/h70237000000000?src=3WWRWXGP&gclid=CP6nyoPz3LcCFciY4AodPzkA8A&kwid=productads-plaid%5E34106002562-sku%5EH70237%40ADL4mf-adType%5EPLA-device%5Ec-adid%5E14207119082 and Tascam DR-100mkII. So far so good with the Marantz. With a SD card recording a 32gig gives me 22+ hrs (more than I should ever need). The Porta brace holder will come in hany for those situations when you need a somone to hold a boom mic.
