Approximately 1,000 guests lined up to check out a “friends and family” sneak peek at the new Academy Sports + Outdoors store last Sunday afternoon. The new 60,000-square-feet retail outlet, located at 3621 State Highway 31 West, remained in its soft opening phase until its grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony took place early Friday morning.

Board Meeting Alert: Monday’s regular meeting of the Corsicana ISD Board of Trustees is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Corsicana High School Performing Arts Center at 3701 West Highway 22. The change is to accommodate the crowd as we honor each member of the Corsicana Tiger Band and its staff following their recent performance in the Class 5A Area D Marching Band Contest in Pflugerville.

In October we recognized National First Responders Day on the 28th, which recognizes the heroic men and women who make it their business to take immediate action when disaster strikes. What does a first responder do? In tragedies such as 9/11 and natural disasters firefighters, police, paramedics and more, rush into the mayhem and danger.

The season of giving is upon us and at Corsicana ISD we want to give back to the community that supports us in so many ways. Beginning Nov. 18 and running through Dec. 5, CISD campuses will collect items for Compassion Corsicana Christmas boxes. Items needed include canned - corn, green beans, cream of chicken or mushroom soup, cranberry sauce; boxed – mac-n-cheese, stuffing, desserts like cake, pudding, no bake cheesecake. Campuses meeting goals will be awarded a full week of wearing jeans Dec. 16-20. Let’s do this and give back to our community, Tigers!

La temporada de dar está sobre nosotros y en Corsicana ISD queremos retribuir a la comunidad que nos apoya de muchas maneras. A partir del 18 de noviembre y hasta el 5 de diciembre, los campus de CISD recolectarán artículos para las cajas navideñas de Compassion Corsicana. Los artículos necesarios incluyen enlatados: maíz, ejotes, crema de pollo o sopa de champiñones, salsa de arándanos; en caja: mac-n-cheese, relleno para pavo, postres como pastel, pudín y pastel de queso sin hornear.
