Jo Hulsman has retired from cutting hair after 51 years. Her last official haircut was last Friday, and it ended with a hug, just like so many before it.

A Christmas home: Kayla Schmitt received the keys to her new home just in time for her and her two children, Jaxon and Grace, to celebrate Christmas in it for the first time. Firefighters from Dubois, Celestine and Haysville took Dubois Elementary kids shopping at Walmart on Saturday. Each child had an allowance for clothing, shoes and outerwear as well as toys.

Afterward, the firefighters paraded the kids up to the Dubois Fire Station for lunch and a visit with Santa Claus.

The event was funded through the firefighters' chicken dinner sales as well as donations from the community. The annual Shop with a Fireman is in its 12th year.
