Book Awards
Nestled on the wooded shore of Arbutus Lake, near Traverse City, Michigan, our independent publishing house began producing books and tapes about Michigan in 1998. Our first title, The Road Guide: Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, was a popular guide book. Since that first book, we have been honored with awards for quality book publication. In 2002, Historic Cottages of Mackinac Island won the Michigan Notable Book Award. Asylum for the Insane: History of Kalamazoo State Hospital by William Decker, M.D. has won the coveted Notable Book award from the Michigan Library in 2009. In 2011, Vintage Views Along the West Michigan Pike was honored with the Michigan Notable Award and In 2013, Fishtown, the history of the fishing community in Leland, now preserved through the Fishtown Preservation Society, snaged the Michigan Notable Award.
