Hi There! So our trial format for this Thursday's KWMG Networking Jam is borrowed from The Rusty Nail Blues Jam in Wilmington, NC. There will be 9 or 10 sets, each lasting roughly 3 songs or 20 minutes. We will be prepared to and may call up a karaoke singer between sets both to prevent dead air and to accommodate a few great singers.
The sign up board will include slots for Lead Vocalist, Guitar 1, Guitar 2, Keys, Bass Drums and "other" (e.g. sax, harmonica, steel, fiddle, harmonies, etc.). There will also be slots for Camera 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Each musician can sign up for one set at a time and we will fill the first 3 sets first. At the end of a set, you can stay up there provided nobody has signed up to follow you.
If you want to play with certain people, just sign up together. The lead vocalist gets to call the song choice and the key and hand off the lead rides. Try to call songs that are pretty well known so the current combo will jive and remember, everyone can play the blues (hopefully).
We will have plenty of snacks, canned sodas and bottled water available throughout the evening. If we get some things jelling, we will video record some moments and post them to this page very soon after.
We are pleased to have Charlie Gairrett in-house to run FOH and up to 6 or 7 monitor mixes. It is going to sound awesome!
Thanks to all of you who have participated in our first two jams and we look forward to seeing lots of friendly faces there this week!
If you have any questions, ask in the comments. I will answer every one. See you Thursday! --Mark D. 🎹🎶
