Lisa May will be serving Jackson County as the new Library Director at The W.A. Billingsley Memorial Library. Mrs. May has lived with her family in Jackson County since 2010. For twelve years, she taught at Newport Elementary School as a 1st , 4th, and 5 th grade teacher. Mrs. May is certified to teach all core subjects from kindergarten to 8 th grade. In addition, Lisa May is licensed by the state of Arkansas as a Literacy Specialist. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from
Harding University and a Master’s Degree in Reading from Arkansas State University. Mrs. May hopes to draw all Jackson County citizens to utilize the many services offered by the library.

Next week is this quarters drive-thru commodity distribution on Wednesday, May 1 at 400 North Pecan St. Time is listed as 9-11 but come early, they start delivering as soon as the truck arrives.

Unity Health Newport was the winner of the sign naming fundraiser auction during the Chamber's annual banquet. "Unity Health Getwell Way" will remain in place for one year and is located between Newport Lake and the Farmers Market pavilion. Proceeds from the fundraiser assist with the Chamber's Arkansas Scholars and Scholarship programs. Thank you, Unity Health!
