Iron City Pipe and Supply Artist Spotlight: Ben White

Ben has always been an avid music lover from an early age. His parents would play John Denver and the Eagles Greatest Hits on 33 during his formative years. He got a taste of playing in a band during high school and started writing his own songs in college and continues to do so to this day. Lately he has been recording these songs and posting them to Soundcloud and attends Open Mics as much as possible.

Iron City Pipe and Supply Artist Spotlight: Megan Wren

Megan Wren is an Americana/folk artist with a touch of edge. Inspired by the likes of Jade Bird and KT Tunstall, she is steadily growing into a presence that is all her own. Her debut EP, Sympathetic Vibrations, was recorded at The The Oxide Shed in Athens, OH, and is available on all streaming platforms. She is currently dedicating her time to writing her next original release.

Iron City Pipe and Supply Artist Spotlight: The Touchy Feelys

The Touchy Feelys are an indie folk duo from Athens/Dayton, Ohio composed of Andrea Dawn Courts and Jason Trout. The duo formed in the summer of 2014 shortly after Andrea performed vocals on “The Dust I Kick,” a song from Jason’s solo album. Trout started writing new songs for the band and the two immediately began performing live throughout Ohio and surrounding states, and did so for years before entering the studio in February 2020 to begin recording their debut album. Delayed by the state of the world, BREAK-UP SONGS ABOUT STAYING TOGETHER was finally released in December 2021. Drawing influence from classic country and indie rock vocal duos, The Touchy Feelys have created a timeless aura in which voice and song are the stars of the show.

The Touchy Feelys will perform Thursday September 22nd at Jackson County Roots at The Lillian E. Jones Museum in Jackson, Ohio.

Iron City Pipe and Supply Artist Spotlight: Joseph Crabtree Joseph and His Ghost.

Joseph Crabtree

A wearer of many hats, Joseph (or more commonly known as Joey) has been writing music for over two decades. Finding just a few genres to best describe what exactly it is that he does proves to be a difficult task though he is truly an independent artist when it comes to his solo material. Joey writes, performs, records and produces all of his albums under the name "Joseph and His Ghost" which can be easily obtained from Bandcamp for the price of your choosing. Aside from his solo endeavors, Joey's other musical projects are Terroriffic!, The Wind and the Sea, Black Hat Nation and Reuben and the Sunbeams, which all vastly differ from one another.

Though his intentions have never been to obtain fame or fortune, his years of hard work enabled him to share stages with some of his main influences such as Jello Biafra and Cursive. It is tough to say what kinds of sounds may come from Joey on his next release, but it seems that sincerity, exploration and unpredictability have been at least a few of the driving forces behind his music for a long time now and are unlikely to change anytime soon.

We would like to thank everyone that came out and supported the first Jackson County Roots Concerts Series of events that took place this week at the The Lillian E. Jones Museum in Jackson, Ohio. Everyone had so much fun! It was great to feel the community spirit and see so many old friends and new ones as well. We hope to see you for the next show in our series, coming up on October 19th as part of the Foothills Art Festival celebration at Canter's Cave 4-H Camp Lodge. Show will feature Julia Marie Martin, California Howdy and Wildwood Franklin.
