The Nubian Message’s Editorial Board believes the decision to elect former President Donald Trump as the 47th president of the United States is disappointing for the future of this country.

For the next four years, we’ll be faced with the gut-wrenching truth that, when given the choice, America will continue to choose the candidate that represents a threat to our democracy and civil liberties.

Yet, as a historically Black and marginalized newspaper we reject the rampant online hate amongst NC State students. The Nubian Message does not condone any form of hate speech or violence, especially against Arab, Black or Latine Americans who are often used as a scapegoat for the failure of the electoral system.

So, What’s Next? 📰

In the words of Managing Editor Isaac Davis “While we don’t have all the answers, it’s a start.

We are looking forward. The world is scary, but we need to be the strongest we’ve ever been.”

We know many students need a break from election coverage, so this issue there are only two election-related pieces, including our first editorial of the year.

Otherwise, you can read about Tinashe’s performance in Raleigh or plenty of social commentary on affirmative action and ragebait.

NC State and its student body have been painted red by its investments in war. The Student
Government, those who we’ve elected to represent us, have decided stood with administration in dedicating a portion of our tuition to the war on Gaza and the genocide of Palestinians.
