Opinion: What part of the 2nd Amendment and the right to bear arms shall not be infringed do they (Govt) not understand? Govt needs to stop harassing gun shops and legal gun owners and start prosecuting and placing those who use any weapon to hurt people into mental institutions and jail. It's not the gun that kills people, it is people who kill people. Riverhead Progressive (Anti-American) policies are destroying our Constitution and American Way of Life. Gun Shops should file lawsuits, they will win. This WOKE crap has to go. This is coming from Albany and the UN. part of the Green New Delusion. Riverhead took the money and now they have to take their Anti-American Policies. Shame on the RINOs.
They should Focus on removing all those who came here illegally and all those who sell fentanyl and he**in on Main Street. Affordable (Govt) Housing will destroy Main Street anyway within 10 years of completion. Repeating Historical Blunders from 50 years ago will lead to the same bad results. Those of us who lived through the 1970s north of NYC understand what is going on here as we experienced the failures of these policies and the devastating impact they had on our Main Streets and communities. The Carter Administration allowed this Green Community Ideology into our Country especially Upstate NY during the 70s using different nomenclatures to describe these same Anti-American Policies that are being reintroduced into our country and state by an even worse biden administration. There is a reason his poll numbers are in the toilet, its because he is hurting the American Citizens with this Green New Disaster, so you must ask yourself why are your representatives going along with this loser and his awful policies? Tone Deaf? Maybe worse.
How about securing our Schools with armed security and teachers, no more gun free schools and signs that invite criminals and the mentally disturbed to take innocent lives. It has been the legally armed citizens all across this country that have taken these situations into their own hands because our policing policies are too weak and woke to save lives. More Armed Law-Abiding Citizens are needed and should be heralded for all the lives they have saved while the politicians are playing politics and not protecting their constituents.
GUNS and GUN SHOPS are not the problem, Gun free Main Streets will lead to more criminal activity and more chaos. The only thing that stops a criminal with a weapon is a law abiding citizen with a weapon. Stop disarming Good Citizens and start prosecuting those who are looking to hurt law-abiding Citizens who should be able to carry a legal gun to protect themselves and their families especially nowadays when response times are so poor due to woke policing policies handed out by woke politicians.
Town Board Members and the Chambers of Commerce should be protecting the Rights of Gun Store Owners to do business wherever they see a market, just as they protect any other business on Main Street. The fact that they are even thinking about this goes to show you how they are drinking the Coolaid from the left and the Globalists who want to disarm all Americans as they have done in their own woke countries as they steal their individual and inalienable rights away from them. This my comrades is the beginning of Communism in the US at the local levels. Our Representatives are either ignorant or complicit in this Marxist / Communist takeover of our local communities, they are being rolled by the Green Zealots / Globalists and they are surrendering our Sovereignty with every dollar they take from Albany and this crazy Co**ie Administration. Hopefully this ends in NOV 2022 and Sanity is restored, otherwise we will be facing the Great New Green Depression which will be far worse than the 1930s. And that will not end well for all of us.
Every Business on Main Street including the ice cream shops and playgrounds should post signs on their shop windows and fences that says that this store, park, school and/or playground is protected by a legal gun owner. That is what deters criminals not signs that say this business, main street, school or playground is a gun free zone. Common Sense is no longer Common in our local representatives, they are listening to the loud and weak minded and not to the quiet and strong citizens of their communities. Stop taking a Knee to the Co**ies and Stand strong with Americans or step aside and allow Real Americans to hold those offices. The Real Americans are coming in NOV 2022 / NOV 2024 and hopefully they shut this crap down by defunding and undoing these Anti-American policies of this Co**ie Green Movement before its too late. If i was a parent with kids in the school i would want big signs that said this school zone is NOT a Gun Free Zone and is safely protected by armed security, teachers, and law-abiding citizens. That is called DETERRENCE (the action of discouraging an action or event through instilling doubt or fear of the consequences) which will certainly make anyone think twice about stepping foot on that property looking to harm innocent people and kids. Stop Capitulating to those who are insane and live in a Unicorn filled Utopia where Reality does not exist.
Whoever thought to create Gun Free Main Streets is out of touch with reality and those who go along with those policies are just as insane. Imagine what the criminals and gang members are thinking about this, free reign to commit all types of crimes against the Main Street Business Owners without impunity, by the time the police arrive at the scene it will be too late to undo the damage done and potentially the lives lost. They (those who impose the Green New Delusion) want to Defund the Police so there will be less police and a much longer response time to prevent any illegal activity in our communities and Main Streets while at the same time disarming and making it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to use their Constitutional Rights to protect themselves and their properties.
This is So Anti-American that those who push these co**ie policies on their citizens should be voted out of office ASAP for they are not upholding their sworn duty to protect and abide by the US Constitution above all others. The Green New Delusion is Communism brought into our country by the Globalists and Anti-Americans under the guise of the Green New Deal, which is not a good deal for Americans and our Country. Surrendering our Sovereignty is never a good deal and needs to be stopped by our Elected Representatives who should be protecting us from Government overreach, and this is most definitely Government Overreach.
Your Town Officials who campaigned on the Republican Ticket but are now governing as Democrat Progressives who embrace this Green New Disaster and Co**ie policies have betrayed you and your vote, they fooled you. True Populist Republicans would never let this Happen it is against every principle they believe in. They fooled you once, question is, will they fool you again. True Populist Republicans believe in de-regulation and personal responsibility, they would never blame Guns or Gun Shops for the actions of a few mentally disturbed criminals and they would never try to infringe on your 2nd Amendment Rights by drafting new laws and codes that will definitely infringe on the rights of Gun Shop Owners to conduct business where they want to and Gun Owners by making it more difficult to purchase legal guns and ammo. Ignorance is Bliss and this is surely ignorance whether intentional or not. Discriminating against Gun Shop owners and their right to conduct business in our free market system is Un-Constitutional and is another example of how these Business Districts are Anti-American Zones unaccountable to the local voters and community. Just the thought of a few elected officials getting away with creating these amendments to codes that are in direct conflict with US Constitutional Laws should concern you.
Riverhead Town is moving forward with a code amendment that would exclude gun shops from the Main Street business district and require town board special permits for gun shops…
