Last Sunday, Lou’s interview with Tony Orlando was one not to be missed. But, just in case you did, the entire show is now up on the Sirius XM app.

The show opened with another candidate for a perfect record (an ongoing Jukebox Diner topic) Listener Brett also called in with analysis of a confusing Mamas and Papas lyric.

Do you prefer Laura Nyro or Three Dog Night with their version of Eli’s Comin’ ?

Another fantastic show is coming your way this Sunday night at 8 East, 5 West and appropriate times in between on SXM 60s Gold, Channel 73

In the weeks before the holiday break, Lou had very interesting calls and emails from listeners requesting big hits, regional hits, and a few that some of us have never heard.

The December 17th show (still available in the SXM ap) started off with a big congratulations to Brenda Lee for her record setting achievement of having the No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. 65 years after it was recorded, and , having recently turned 79, being the oldest person to ever have a No. 1 record.

Of course , Alvin and The Chipmunks were also on the playlist, with a wonderful follow-up from the previous week, and a tribute to one of the legendary record stores of the past; Woody’s Record Shops in Binghamton and Endicott N.Y.

Lou’s is back from break tonight , January 7th, with a new show, and calllers ready to get in their first requests for 2024.

Jump into the booth on SXM Channel 73 at 8 East, 5 West and appropriate times in between

Most listeners would agree that these two records contain the same melody with different lyrics. But which one came first? Lou knows . You can learn the answer to this and many other music topics by listening to the November 19th edition of The Jukebox Diner on the Sirius XM ap. Happy Thanksgiving to the ever growing family of listeners on 60s Gold , Channel 73

If you have been listening to The Jukebox Diner for the past 2 weeks, you may have heard many songs that you haven’t heard on the radio for a long time. (or maybe never?)

We heard the new Beatles single, and also “Twenty Flight Rock” by Eddie Cochran. Do you know the importance of that disc in the formation of The Beatles?

Listener Alex from Texas shared his memories if listening to DJ Joe Donavan on WHAS and one of his favorites from the summer of 1966; a regional hit by Verdelle Smith.

Another listener had a big shock when he discovered that his professor in fluid mechanics at Renseler Polytechnic Institute was none other than the former lead singer of Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen.

Listener Sarah from Pittsburgh took us back to the pre-rock era with a Rosie favorite. Do you know who sang the bass line on that #1 hit?

And what artist from the 60s had eleven top 40 hits, but none in the Top 10?

These and other questions are part of the fast paced banter with Lou. The November 5th and 12th shows are available on the Sirius XM ap, and a new show is coming your way Sunday at 8 PM East, 5 PM West and appropriate times in between on SXM 60s Gold , Channel 73

Occasionally on The Jukebox Diner, a listener will call in with clues from a long lost song, often a regional hit, which they have been trying to identify for years. On the October 29th show, listener Zachary from the Bronx, gave Lou 3 clues: guys were working in a diner; one of them gets in trouble; the name “Speedy” is in the lyric. Within a short time , another listener called in with the answer!

Other topics on recent shows included a tribute to Dwight Twilley, whose biggest hit was the 1975 retro “I’m On Fire”

Listener Bill in Lexington, Ky. wanted to hear a tune from 1969 which was a smash in Europe, but barely dented the charts in the US. Another listener requested an early Sylistics song from the summer of 1971, just before their big national hits.

A topic which has been mentioned previously is “Instrumental hits which later had lyrics added” Listener Craig in Georgia likes the vocal version of “Apache”, which Sonny James recorded for both the RCA and Columbia labels.

What song was playing when Suzanne Summers made her famous cameo appearance in the T-bird?

These and other questions are part of the weekly banter on The Jukebox Diner with Lou Simon. Get ready for the November 5th edition at 8 East, 5 West, and appropriate times between on Sirius XM 60s Gold, Channel 73🎶
