Happy Thursday, everyone!

I'll keep this brief -- I need your help with direct introductions.

I am looking to meet with state and federal legislators in hopes of creating a program akin to Elderly Waiver but for legacy preservation purposes.

The idea would be that we could offset the cost of legacy preservation services for families if they agree to provide their family media to their local and state historical societies, as well as our national archives.

If you know someone who is currently in office or is running that might support the creation and development of this program, I would greatly appreciate a personal introduction to discuss what it would take to get this started.

Last we had the chance to sponsor and serve at a Valentine's Day lunch for seniors and their guests at the Minnetonka Community Center!

We heard so many good love stories and received a lot of support for our work to preserve them.

Thank you to the City of Minnetonka for such a nice facility and banquet hall, and to Cub for the delicious food everyone shared.

Did you know Minnesota's funeral industry is only a couple hundred years old? And before modern funerals were invented and widely accepted, families were the ones who took care of their loved one's body?

I learned this while interviewing one of the pioneers of this industry last year and it got me thinking -- how did having a funeral become a cultural norm?

In fact, how does anything become widely accepted to the point where it's "just a thing we do"? A thing that doesn't need to be explained because everyone gets it.

According to my interviewee and my own research, the secret to the acceptance of funerals was the support of religious and community leadership; the need to take care of a person's body; the lack of knowledge by most families to do so; and the desire for a gathering to honor the person.

I ponder this because I believe Inherited Stories® legacy documentaries are a digital update to the funeral industry, and to the end-of-life industry as it currently exists.

For the last five years, I've seen and tracked dozens of people who post photos and tributes to their parents and grandparents on social media.

Why do they do it? Because like me, they clearly want others to remember someone they loved.

And, like me, they did not have the foresight or the technology to interview their loved one before they died.

But I'll guarantee they wish they did. It's a common regret I hear whenever I meet with people.

So my question to those of you who still have a living loved one is:

Why not interview them while you have the chance?

That way future generations can remember them at their funeral or anytime you miss the sound of their voice or the way they smile.

That makes sense to me. Hopefully it won't take two hundred years for it to make sense to you.

We are our stories.

We had a great time at the annual meeting at Target Field. We listened to Chris Farrell from share some wonderful advice about the value of hiring older employees; the rise of A.I.; and, a positive outlook on Minnesota’s economic prospects.

We had a FANTASTIC weekend at the Fall Into The Arts festival in ! Some fun stats from the two day event.

1,275 brochures and business cards taken — We ran out on Saturday and had to dig into the reserves for Sunday! 😎

67 families verbally interested in a Vimory project for someone they love. 😍

1 brave soul shared a funny story on-camera. 😅

Most importantly — dozens of families now know they can (and should) capture the stories of the people they love. 🥰
