🏠💛Sister Spotlight💛🏠

After more than 30 years in corporate America, JoAnne McTague, Virginia, became an unexpected hero to families with kids undergoing treatment for life-threatening illnesses.

A chance conversation in 2017 led JoAnne from house rehabber to hope restorer when she learned of a critical need in her community: families of pediatric cancer patients needed long-term lodging while their children were receiving treatment at the University of Virginia Children’s Hospital.

In response, JoAnne founded the Yellow Door Foundation in 2018. Its mission? Provide free sanctuary housing and support for families facing their child's life-threatening illness. JoAnne's journey shows how one person's compassion can transform lives. The Yellow Door Foundation isn't just a charity; it's a lifeline allowing families to focus on what matters most — their child's recovery.

History comes alive through the pages of a Fiona Davis, William & Mary, novel 📚✨

In an interview with The Key, the New York Times bestselling author reveals how New York City's iconic landmarks sparked her imagination and shaped her unique storytelling approach. What began as a fascination with the hidden histories of the city's architectural gems evolved into a career crafting captivating historical fiction that uses these buildings as portals to the past.

Fiona's journey from curious observer to celebrated author is driven by her passion for uncovering the untold stories of remarkable women who helped shape the city. "The stories are just remarkable that I find of people who've lived in New York in eras where women were really forgotten and lost. Finding these women who were really important in their time and making those names clear in a story and celebrating who they were is, to me, very rewarding," Fiona says.

From the glittering halls of Grand Central Terminal to the storied walls of the Dakota, Fiona’s novels transport readers through time while celebrating the indomitable spirit of forgotten heroines. Want to know more about her education, how she became a writer, and her career? Dive into our full interview on Page 36: bit.ly/FionaDavisTheKey

And stay tuned for her Fleurish Book Club event in April where we will be reading her new novel, The Stolen Queen. 🗽📖

In Kappaland, dreams are bold, everything is blue and blue, and every moment is cherished because we’re spending it with those who mean so much to us. Connecting and spending time with over 600 Kappas in the sun-kissed desert oasis was a dream come true. While all good things must come to an end, you can relive the dreaminess of it all again and again in The Hoot, an official Kappa publication bringing you Convention news since 1916.
