Born Grown: The Making of Travis C. Burrell

Born Grown is a biographical sketch that uses the memories and experiences of Travis C. Burrell to paint a very vivid picture of the lives of children who grow-up in neglectful homes and in-and-out of foster care. He had seen so much and been responsible for himself, his siblings, and friend at such a young age that he felt that he was born grown. This life toughens the children who live them, desensitizes them, and matures them in ways that are difficult for others who have grown-up in other cultures to understand. The book is honest and real as told from the point of view of a five-thirteen-year-old. It will make you laugh and cry and hopefully do something to change the lives of children who are growing up like Travis.

Available at Amazon in Paperback, Hardback, and Kindle Edition.

Reader's Review for the book "USA Anytime Anyplace: A Journey Toward Survival and Self Worth" by Ercell H. Hoffman

"Author Ercell Hoffman does a wonderful job of taking her reading audience into the mind of Kithira Manoff and making us see the world through this character's perspective. By allowing us to be present not only for the major events in Kithira's life, such as the death of loved ones and her brave battles to defend her professional honor in federal courts, but also those everyday moments like dealing with an office nemesis or chatting with a girlfriend, we are given a complete portrait of the woman. Hoffman skillfully blends well-written dialogue, including a captivating scene in the latter half of the book in which Kithira faces lengthy questioning from attorneys concerning her claims of prejudice against her employers, with great descriptions of her protagonist's inner conflicts and feelings of self-doubt. We come to know Kithira Manoff as a woman who simply wants the recognition, respect, and peace of mind that she deserves."

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT:

SEAN MCQUADE

Book: Almost Tomorrow

Almost Tomorrow is a riveting story of two sisters, Parveen and Bulbul, and their journey to survival. The book, to begin with, tackles so much that history, speaking of publication – has not been given much attention to. As such is the Brick-Kiln industry in Pakistan which bonded Parveen and the other young people as a result of landlessness and high unemployment. They were all compelled to take money in advance from kiln owners for their daily sustenance by selling their labor. Further, this book digs deep into what transpired between Pakistan and India after World War II took place. Also, this book would raise questions whether or not Great Britain was indeed good for India and its people, considering that their steps were evident.
Although written in a fictitious manner, this book by Sean Mcquade is a beautiful literary piece and an informative one that gives every reader, especially the younger generation a clear picture of Anglo Indians and their community’s contribution to the country. The chapters are dealt concisely with photos to illustrate the text and I find it to be a writing that is well crossed-referenced.
I would not say this book is for all since the history and its recipe can only get complicated somewhere in the story, but any good reader will definitely love this book and the heart that has been put to it by the author and any reader can totally feel it. Almost Tomorrow is a book that pictures struggles, sacrifices, and hope – a highly commendable book!
