Dinuba police have arrested one man and are searching for another vehicle in connection with the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian in the 500 block of West El Monte Way on Tuesday night.
Police said the first vehicle that struck the unidentified victim at around 10:30 p.m. was identified as a gray Ford F-150. According to witnesses, the driver of that truck attempted to help move the injured pedestrian out of the road and then fled the scene heading west on West El Monte Way.
Witnesses to the collision then came from across the street to render aid to the injured pedestrian, according to police. While one of the witnesses was trying to help the pedestrian and attempting to slow down traffic, a second vehicle struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian later was pronounced dead at the scene. The identification is being withheld pending notification of family.
A short time later, the driver of the second vehicle, 25-year-old Isaac Hernandez, turned himself in at the Dinuba Police Department. He was arrested and later booked into the Tulare County Jail on vehicular manslaughter and hit and run charges.
The investigation is ongoing, anyone with information on the incident is urged to call the Dinuba Police Department at 591-5911, or 591-TIP1 (8471) if they wish to remain anonymous.
