For 50 years, Habilitat has helped thousands of people to overcome and live beyond addiction. They are the largest capacity treatment center in the state, with 150 beds, with a success rate three times the national average. Throughout the pandemic Habilitat adapted to what is now referred to as the "new normal”, by taking precautionary measures like testing and quarantining new residents and daily sanitizing of facility and vehicles. Did you know that they have also partnered with Meals on Wheels to help feed Kupuna on the windward side of Oahu? You can learn more about Habilitat Hawaii and how to support these vital programs by visiting: https://www.habilitat.com/donations-hawaii/

Kaimade Milk Cookies is just one of our local companies who have been trying to share aloha during these hard times. To support nursing moms here in the Islands, the company donated to Wilcox Health's Wilcox Memorial Hospital and Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children (where owner Kailan Reyes and her sister were born). She also supported Kaua’i Veteran’s Memorial Hospital which is where her daughters were born. When we asked why she made the donations, she explained that, "I hold these facilities dear to my heart. They’ve been there for all of us and it’s time we are there for them."

In an effort to support those in our community negatively impacted by COVID-19, the Anderson Stewart Family Foundation, a charitable organization created by the family of T**a’s founder, John E. Anderson, Sr., along with local subsidiaries Hawai‘i Coffee Company, Paradise Beverages and T**a Real Estate Group, donated $250,000 to the Hawai’i Community Foundation’s (HCF) Hawai‘i Resilience Fund.

HCF has a unique role in disaster preparedness and response. The organization collaborates with partners, both inside and outside of philanthropy, including government, disaster relief organizations, community groups, and the private sector, for a coordinated effort and maximum community impact. From the flooding on the North Shore of Kaua‘i to volcano eruptions on Hawai‘i island, HCF has demonstrated its ability to grant funds quickly to community organizations that are filling the gaps in response efforts.

Donations to the Hawai‘i Resilience Fund at HCF can be made online at https://www.hawaiicommunityfoundation.org/coronavirus.

The Hawai‘i Resilience Fund was created to rapidly deploy resources to community nonprofits and health care providers who are working on the ground to address the COVID-19 pandemic in Hawai‘i.
