Finishing touches are being applied this week to an old-but-new storefront space immediately next door to the Salem-Keizer Education Foundation's headquarters on NE Commercial Street.
Starting Nov. 8, SKEF will officially occupy two floors of the renovated Starkey-McCully Building. On that date, SKEF's Where the Sidewalk Begins gift and accessories boutique will hold its annual Holiday Open House.
Within SKEF's new digs will be the Mike McLaran Center for Student Success, a college and career readiness center for high school students and their parents. Few communities anywhere in the United States have such a downtown hub.
Where the Sidewalk Begins will feature expanded display space in the new building. as well as a bigger, better smoothie bar.
For months now, NewsHawk has been documenting the construction process with photos and text.
SKEF employees worked through the weekend to prepare for their big move.
