Varytale

Varytale Publisher and Retailer of Interactive Books

We'd like to announce our support for the IF Competition 2012, and would like to encourage any of our writers (or readers who fancy a go) to enter it. http://bit.ly/L3UWWg

Every year a competition is held for short works of interactive fiction. The IFComp has been a major catalyst for readers and writers to produce great work. Some of the works that have won in the p...

So we're well passed 100,000 reads, and 250,000 choices made now. Thanks again to everyone for helping us reach this milestone in 15 days.

We have a lot of new writers on the system, and a dozen or so who'll be added in the next day or two. I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with!

Wow. We smashed through the 50,000 read mark this evening. [A read is one visit to a book by a reader]. That's a staggering number for our first 10 days since the site went live.

A *huge* thank you to everyone, from the Varytale team and from all our authors. I've had several conversations with authors who say they are so overjoyed at the support, ratings and comments they're receiving.

So Varytalers, thanks for making our first week of beta so good. With twenty thousand reads, and over a thousand ratings, things have been busy.

A handful of people have found nasty bugs (even bugs that prevent them reading content) which we're sorry about, but is what the beta is about - thanks for reporting them.

Please let us know any issues, suggestions or other feedback.

One thing we've been asked a lot this week is: when can I write my own book? The answer is: now. You need a username and password to log in to the writer's interface. Email me at [email protected] with the username you'd like and I'll set you up. There'll be a registration form for doing this yourself after the beta.

Have fun!

Varytale is intended to allow either individuals or groups to work on interactive books. In this post we look at some of the facilities in Varytale to support teams of writers.

Varytale uses book covers to show the quality of books, and allows authors to control the design without having to design the whole thing.

There’s a lot of talk about interactive books right now. Publishers are rushing to create them, and lots of companies are springing up to help them try.
