Our Story

We look forward to another creative year of filmmaking with kids. It’s hard to believe that it is our 18th year of FILMSTERS Academy. To date, over 900 previous students have worked together to create 186 short films.

Each year, students move up to other levels and returning excited at the idea of developing and creating a short film from the conception to screen. Blending the feel of a summer camp with learning the creative process is our special niche. The fabric of our program is carried on through the staff in a 100% non­competitive, creative environment. Strengthening this is a core group of industry professionals to guide and assist.

We have grown our program with an emphasis on the professional experience of filmmaking. Set up like a movie set, we use real makeup, lights, costumes, props and wardrobe, sound and camera gear and mac platforms for our edit systems with the Adobe Suite of tools. This exceptional team of industry filmmakers and staff specialists provides our students with guidance in writing, directing, acting, lighting, camera and editing. It is a hands­on experiential learning style that enables them to develop their skills. We will have make up artists, stunt coordinators, special effects folks, real­ life writers, producers and directors, editors, cinematographers and sound people to offer a real world film experience for your child like no other film program for kids in this area.

It is an inspiration to all of us who make this program happen to witness and nurture the artistic voices and creative vision of your children as we teach the young filmmakers who will impact the world around them! And film camp is also just plain fun!
