HUGE SHOUT-OUT TO PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) for supporting our protest against Marshall BioResources in North Rose, NY on August 9. They designed, printed, and mailed us 25 eye-catching protest signs at no cost. They've also sent two email blasts to PETA followers in New York, and shared their list of media contacts with us so we could send out press releases. It's amazing what we can accomplish when we work together...14 DAYS UNTIL GO TIME!

HEY, IT'S CEDRIC HERE! REPORTING FROM OUR OUR OFFICE IN THE RV...It's been raining all morning here in Camden, Maine, and I don't really want to go outside. So, as the Dog Research Exposed Tour mascot, I thought I'd take this opportunity to give you all two important updates:

*****************************
🚌Update #1: Today is DAY 220 of our tour!

🚐Update #2: We've driven 12,753 MILES!

******************************
Also, on a personal note, I've met over 100 fellow Envigo beagles along the way who showed me how amazing their lives are. That makes me really happy! We still have a long way to go and really important things to do, my Mom says, so I'll report back on another rainy day from somewhere.
❤️...Cedric

TODAY WE SAY FAREWELL TO MASSACHUSETTS...We got a special bon voyage visit at our campsite from Envigo beagle Wallace--now much loved by his mom Christina Elizabeth Jarkko. Isn't he just the cutest? 🥰

Christina so generously paid for the four days we spent at our campsite in Littleton so we could do all of our petition deliveries. Not only that, Christina surprised us with two bags of specialty food items to keep our spirits up...and our tummies full...the dogs, too!

Being here in MA has been an emotional roller coaster for sure. I've seen the very best of humanity. I've seen the very worst. I've shed tears of sadness and anger, but also tears of love because of all the kindness and generosity you all have shown us during our time here. Thank you for following and supporting our mission...until every cage is empty!

🚐NEXT STOP MAINE! Time for some emotional battery re-charging and getting revved up for the historic protest at Marshall BioResources in upstate New York.

I HONESTLY DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT WORDS FOR HOW HOPEFUL & INSPIRED I FEEL RIGHT NOW...

Today Dog Research Exposed was on location at the biotech company Emulate in Boston, Massachusetts. Jeremy and I were invited for a personal tour of Emulate, a pioneer and leader in the field of human organ-on-a-chip technology that will one day replace dogs and other animals in human drug research and other experiments. In other words, these guys are like superheroes for our cause!

We were joined by two amazing Emulate scientists, John Saul and Gautam Mahajan, who explained the complicated science to us in a way we could understand. Lucky for us, we had already read up on organs-on-chips quite a bit, so were were able to follow along very easily. Take a look at their website for all the incredible work Emulate is doing: https://emulatebio.com/

We got to see Emulate's entire facility, including the lunch room where researchers were collaborating with their laptops beside an enormous window overlooking Boston Harbor. Dogs are also welcome to come to work with employees of Emulate. Quite frankly, I felt like I was in Wonderland. The power of the human mind working to make this world a better place for all living things is something to behold. As John told us, "I come to work every day with a smile on my face. I feel so proud to be here."

Unlike all the animal testing facilities we visit protected by security guards and gates; with employees running away from us or hiding what they do; where we are restricted and uninvited...Emulate is a company very proud of what they do and they are proud to show it. In fact, public tours are something they do regularly as part of business. They should be proud, and they are happy to say that the demand for organs-on-chips is expanding rapidly. So, pharmaceutical companies are really buying into this technology.

I gave John a copy of my book "Laboratory Dogs Rescued: From Test Subjects to Beloved Companions" as a gift. Even though science and activism are two different worlds, they can work together to push this technology forward. The hope they shared with Jeremy and I today will stay with me for the rest of tour. I hope it stays with you as well.

FRIENDS ALONG THE WAY...Yesterday morning, before we visited Charles River Laboratories in Wilmington, Massachusetts, tears filled my eyes because I had just been researching all the horrors going on at that facility. It's hard to go to that place in my mind--and yet I must. But having friends along the way makes my job so much easier.

So many generous people have donated a place at their homes and shared meals with us during our tour. I can now certainly call them my friends. We spent this past weekend in Danvers, MA with Tammy O'Shea Tinkham, her husband Dave, and got to mingle with her laboratory beagle rescues Muffin (Marshall), Penny (Envigo), and Spyder (Envigo). What an amazing family!

❤️From the bottom of my heart...thank you all for your kindness, generosity and support along our journey. Until every cage is empty...

ANOTHER DAY SURROUNDED BY BEAGLES IN MASSACHUSETTS! Today we were in Gloucester for the MA Envigo Beagle Meet-Up. There are so many photos because there were so many beagles! The dog park was transformed into a beagle racetrack and there was a whole lot of crazy joy in the air.

🥰 WE ALSO HAD A VERY SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCE!
Photo #1 of this post includes me, my Envigo beagle Cedric, and Mary Hollingsworth, lead attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice that resulted in the surrender and shut-down of Envigo in Virginia. In the Envigo case, Mary led the team that sued Envigo and took them down. She is a true hero.

When I met Mary at the gate of the dog park, she was wiping tears from her eyes...because the last time she saw these beagles they were still prisoners of Envigo in the very worst conditions. If anyone should have felt the love today, it was this kick-ass lawyer who made history and saved over 4,000 beagles' lives. They are our Envigo beagles now...and we never forget what could have been...and all the other beagles who still need our help.

Many thanks to Tammy O'Shea Tinkham and her husband Dave for organizing this amazing event for all of us.You rock!!!! ❤️

MASSACHUSETTS BEAGLE SHENANIGANS!!!

Thank you so much Sarah Fowle-Monteiro and John Monteiro for sharing your home and favorite food places with us on our tour stop in New Bedford! We had some impromptu Envigo beagle visits which always makes for a crazy time. Beagles sure know how to be the life of the party! It's amazing how our Envigo beagles have brought us together. We feel truly blessed to be meeting so many Envigos and their loving families on this journey to end dog research. ❤️NEBULA, MILLIE, CEDRIC, HARPER & REUBEN❤️❤️❤️❤️

***** PENNSYLVANIA RESIDENTS! YOUR ACTION IS NEEDED! *****

Altasciences Preclinical Scranton has 343 dogs being used in painful eye experiments, and other harmful research procedures. We just had an insider email us to confirm that this is indeed a horrible place of much animal suffering.

This photo shows that Altasciences is planning to expand their animal testing with a brand new facility. Most people who live in this rural community don't even know what goes on here. If you or someone you know lives in the Scranton/ Wilkes Barre area, contact the city to oppose this expansion. Share this post with your PA friends. If you don't want this place in your community, you have the power in numbers to stop them!

Meet our new friend Dolly! She and her mom Diane Sweeney are hosting us at their house during our brief stop in Wrentham, MA. Dolly is an Envigo beagle, rescued as a puppy. She's two years old now and living the best life with her beagle-mix sister Lucy. Dolly made sure that Cedric and the rest of our crew felt very welcome when we arrived yesterday! Doesn't she have the most beautiful face? 🩷

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Hey everyone! It’s me Cedric…the Dog Research Exposed Tour Mascot. Today I have a special message to share with you.

As you know, I was rescued from a dog factory farm called Envigo in Virginia. I was born in a huge steel shed along with thousands of other beagles. I was born to be sold off for experiments and then killed. It was very dirty and smelly at Envigo. It was so loud and scary. Many of my fellow beagle puppies died in cages around me. I was there for one year until it was closed…so I still remember things from that place.

When I was rescued and taken out of my cage, I saw sun and grass for the first time. It was awesome! Now I travel the nation with my mom spreading the message that these factory farms for dogs are very bad places. My mom also tells lots of people that there is no reason to use beagles for research because there are better ways to do science now.

My mom is very sad, though, because Envigo is not the only factory farm for dogs. There’s another place. An even worse and bigger place called Marshall Farms [Marshall BioResources] in New York. It’s almost six times bigger than Envigo! There are 23,000 beagles inside those factory farm sheds right now—just like the ones I was in.

So, my mom got together with some awesome organizations to put together a peaceful protest at Marshall Farms in North Rose, New York on August 9. That’s in exactly one month! 🤜You can find all the details here: https://www.facebook.com/share/axn1LofQJhdangDv/?mibextid=9VsGKo

We’re working with Animal Rights Rochester, Rise for Animals, and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to put on the first and biggest protest Marshall has ever seen. Me and my mom want all the beagles to be freed from Marshall, and I hope you can join us and help spread the word.

I know going to a protest sounds scary, but my mom is doing everything she can to make sure we follow the laws. Being part of a group protest like this is also very inspiring and powerful, so my mom says. A ton of planning has gone into this…I see my mom working so hard on this every day! Those beagles need all of our voices, because they don’t have one. I was rescued from Envigo. I was very lucky. Now we need your help to free the 23,000 beagles at Marshall.

**** PLEASE RSVP HERE OR ON OUR EVENT PAGE IF YOU'RE PLANNING TO COME. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO SHARE-A-RIDE, WE ENCOURAGE IT. THANK YOU! *****

We met a few special Envigo beagles this weekend in Danbury, CT. ❤️❤️

GABBY and her mom Scarlet Strakova are hosting the Dog Research Exposed Tour this weekend at their home in Danbury, CT. Gabby is missing an eye from a possible injury in Envigo, or a genetic issue. Her eye was removed by the HSUS medical team soon after she was rescued. Scarlett adopted Gabby at just 11 weeks old. 👉Thing she loves most about Gabby: "She doesn't have a care in the world. She's free, loved...she has her [dog] sisters who love her and she loves them. And, she's the naughtiest beagle in the world."

COADY was adopted by...and is now the constant shadow of...his mom Karla Sittnick. Karla and Coady live in East Haven, CT. Karla actually drove from Connecticut to Maine to adopt him when he was 5 months old. 👉Thing she loves most about Coady: "I love how connected he is to me. He sleeps right up against me all night. A few other great things are that he's not afraid of fireworks, and he plays dead very dramatically when I say"Bang!"

CELEBRATING CEDRIC'S ONE-YEAR GOTCHA ANNIVERSARY! It's been one year since we adopted our beagle Cedric, an Envigo survivor. I knew we were going to do important things together... I just never could have imagined we'd be traveling the nation together! Cedric loves life to the fullest. He seizes every moment with his whole heart with confidence, curiosity, and a whole lot of crazy joy! Here we are...at the Jersey Shore! ❤️

WE HAD A GREAT TIME AT THE EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA ENVIGO BEAGLE MEET-UP!! We all met at the dog park in Morrisville, PA. As always, it's so heartwarming to see these beagles living their best lives full of love and joy. The oldest beagle was age 10...the youngest age 2. I believe they somehow know they came from the same place as they always gravitate toward each other. Thank you Christine Cain for organizing this event and for everyone who came from near and far!❤️

Wayne County, New York is the third largest grower of apples in the nation. Surrounded by burgeoning apple farms, the charming shores of Lake Ontario, and the medical and foodie-loving metropolis of Rochester, Wayne County seems idyllic. That is until you understand that North Rose, one of the towns in Wayne County, is home to an enormous factory farm called Marshall BioResources, the largest breeder of dogs and other animals for biomedical research in the nation—maybe even the world.

The last USDA inspection in 2024 shows that there are still nearly 23,000 dogs inside Marshall. And that doesn’t include all the other thousands of animals such as ferrets and cats. All awaiting sale and transport to lives of suffering and death in research laboratories around the world.

Many people in Wayne County don’t even know Marshall BioResources exists. Like any factory farm operation of any species, the grey windowless sheds all look the same and are hidden behind corn fields or trees far off the main road. There’s no clue as to what’s inside from a cursory glance.

But we aim to change that. The dogs and animals in Marshall deserve more than to be passed by and unseen. Awareness is the first step. To inform the media, the public, and indeed Marshall BioResources itself that treating dogs in this manner is cruel and unnecessary. As for the second step, we are asking Marshall to release all the 23,000 dogs to rescue immediately.

A protest at Marshall has never been done before (that we know of). But the time is now. Hot off the heals of the closure of Envigo in Virginia and the Ridglan Farms Beagle Rescue Trial in Wisconsin, our protest against Marshall comes at an opportune time. People are educated. People are listening. And we will expose Marshall in North Rose to the world for what they are. Hiding is no longer an option. Our voices will be heard loud and clear.

👫👭👬JOIN US FOR A PEACEFUL PROTEST ON AUGUST 9 IN NORTH ROSE, NEW YORK. You can find out more details by clicking on this event link: https://www.facebook.com/events/1407982086580243/?acontext=%7B%22event_action_history%22%3A[]%7D

NEW JERSEY ENVIGO BEAGLE MEET-UP PHOTOS!!!!!! There were smiles all around today for New Jersey's very first Envigo beagle meet-up. As usual, the beagles made us laugh and feel the love surrounding all of us. That is the special gift they give us...that brings us together. Without them in our lives, we would be strangers. It was a lovely morning. Many thanks to Dawn Marie for organizing the meet-up, and to Georgette Madak for making all the dogs beagle bandanas, and for everyone who came--some driving over an hour. Envigo beagles will change the world!!!!❤️❤️❤️

SAYING GOODBYE TODAY TO D.C. AND THE BEST OF FRIENDS...

Our time in the Washington D.C. area was truly inspiring. Not only did we make so many friends, but we were surrounded by people who care tremendously about this issue we fight for every day.

This amazing donation by Katie Denissen and Nick Hermes is a perfect example of this. Katie and Nick sold their handmade pottery a few months ago at a local art festival and donated all their proceeds to Dog Research Exposed. This was a selfless act and one full of love...love for dogs who don't deserve to be used in cruel experiments...who don't have a voice, so we're out there speaking up for them!

We'll put this generous donation to good use as our tour continues up the East coast. Many more petition deliveries await us. As you can imagine, most of this will go toward fuel costs to get us to these places. We are thankful beyond words to have everyone's support in all ways. ❤️❤️❤️

16/06/2024

Watch this amazing interview with Katie Denissen, her husband Ben, and their Envigo beagle Nando! They have been the most gracious hosts this week during our tour, and are the kindest most loving people we get to now call our friends.❤️
