Then She Did Pod Emily and Erin’s conversations about honoring themselves and creativity while raising their kids.

28/04/2021

In this episode, we are talking about refilling our creative tanks. The inhale after producing a bunch of writing. We talk about the things that are inspiring us right now and how it keeps us going. Tell us about your inhale - what are you reading, listening to, watching?

💜✨ >> Posted • There is a story you're destined to tell, a story that already lives within you, burning brightly like a sacred life giving flame at the center of the temple that is your body. Let it reveal itself through you. Let a stream of images spontaneously emerge in your mind's eye, let the words speak for themselves. Feel into your story, get in touch with the ancient art of storytelling, storytelling as medicine, elixir for the soul. Let this story express itself through you, let it guide you, teach you, heal you, transform you, let it bring you back to life🖋️📜🎨 I've been feeling a strong inner calling to tell a story (in a form of a graphic novel) but I'm scared the type of story I want to tell would make me to vunerable so I've been resisting it. Yet, I still want to do it, I feel it in my body so I know it's real and I wrote this as a little encouragment for myself. If you also want to share a story but you're unsure if you should do it or not, may this be a sign to go for it🙂🚀

a year ago today to the last time we recorded in person. After we finished here, we went out to our last lunch. And then the world closed down. So grateful for the technology that lets us record remotely, but looking forward to the day we can sit together in the same room.

A year ago today >>> Posted • to the last day before the pandemic hit. I remembered being really nervous waiting for my husband to return from a business trip since cases in the US were rising. It was the last time we recorded in person and went out to lunch. I ordered chillaquiles because I had always wanted to try them and had a feeling it might be awhile before returning to a restaurant. I took my daughter to her physical therapy session and then picked up my son at the bus stop, made myself a quick sandwich for dinner that I ate in the car while I waited for her dance class to be over. I was supposed to go the high school freshman parent meeting that night, but it was cancelled because of Covid. Then shortly after, we got a call that school would be cancelled for two days.

And here we are a year later.

I haven’t eaten a peanut butter sandwich in a car for dinner since that date, which is a silver lining for me. I’m also grateful for all that I learned about myself and my family in our solitude from the rest of the world. I wish there was a less scary, less life-threatening way to have discovered these insights, and I would also like to go to Trader Joe’s without being scared. So I am anxiously awaiting my turn to get the vaccine, and I am looking forward to being on the other side of this, but also having tender feelings for all the ways I grew this year.
