Iron Maiden have been awarded the prestigious O2 Silver Clef by Nordoff Robbins in recognition of “outstanding contribution to UK music”.
Bruce Dickinson, Janick Gers and Adrian Smith were invited to accept the award on behalf of the band.

It was 40 yrs ago today ....

Forty years ago today, Iron Maiden made history by performing in front of a staggering crowd of 350,000 fans at the inaugural Rock In Rio Festival, one of the largest music festivals ever held. The iconic event took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and showcased some of the greatest rock and metal acts of the era. During Iron Maiden’s electrifying set, a dramatic moment unfolded when frontman Bruce Dickinson accidentally struck himself in the face with a guitar during the song "Revelations." Despite sustaining a bleeding head wound, Dickinson’s legendary resilience shone through as he continued to deliver a flawless performance, embodying the band’s unyielding spirit and commitment to their fans.

That night, Iron Maiden shared the stage with rock royalty, including Queen, who delivered a mesmerizing performance led by the inimitable Freddie Mercury, and Whitesnake with David Coverdale commanding the spotlight. Together, they helped solidify the festival’s reputation as a groundbreaking moment in music history. The sheer scale of the event set a world record for the largest paying audience at the time, marking a pinnacle in live music that remains legendary to this day.
