The Man, The Music, The Genius
With heavy heart I announce the passing of one of the most gifted Arabic music composers I have ever worked with.
RIP Maestro Faheem Alsadi.
This one did not only pain me, it got me in the heart, the gut, and the wallet. I did not want to wait to praise this man that I had the honor of working with on various projects for the past forty years, but that is precisely his style, he did it well and fast.
Faheem the composer like no others I have known, I give him the ideas/lyrics, he glances at them momentarily, and hums the melody instantaneously. His command of the Arabic language was eloquent and concise; if the lyrics are complicated he untangles them.
Maestro Faheem Al Sadi is a singer , oud and piano player, lyricist, and composer of one thousand and one songs. Above all he is gentle, kind, sincere, honest, trustworthy, and hard worker.
Before settling in Long Beach, California, Faheem had his own music radio show in Cairo, Egypt , and toured the world singing, teaching and composing.
Of his generation of Arabic music legends, he is the best of rest and last of least. You want quality music composed and fast? Faheem is the man!
What is impressive about my friend is his dedication to the art of music, “no wallet is too big and no wallet is too small”, liberated to focus on the creative tasks with the directness and clarity that a technical work could provide to produce brilliant music.
One of his finest traits was his abilities to see the humor in life's absurdities and express them in a witty pun, or a good joke, well-timed. His sense of humor was addicting, even when you feel too sick, too worn out and tired. you don't stop laughing because Faheem won’t let you.
