The Holy Cross eighth grade boys basketball team won a first round and semifinal game today to advance to the IESA Class 1A State Championship!!!!!!!

First round
Holy Cross 46, Griggsville-Perry 29

Semifinal
Holy Cross 39, Lincoln Chester - East Lincoln 29

State Championship
Will be against winner of Peoria St. Jude and Pana Sacred Heart, which are in halftime of semifinal, Pana up 36-19

The title game is at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15 at Warrensburg-Latham Hogh School

The Mendota Holy Cross eighth grade basketball team defeated Streator Woodland, 49-33, to win a sectional title and advance the IESA Class 1A State Tournament!!!

Seventh & eighth grade boys basketball playoffs is exciting around these parts!!!!

Oglesby Washington seventh graders (22-0) have the chance to finish the season with a state title and an unblemished record!!!!

The Bulldogs beat Sidell Salf Fork 30-24 in the first round and Burr Ridge 31-30 in the semifinal to earn a spot in the IESA Class 2A State Championship against Effingham St. Anthony (26-2) at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at Macon Meridian High School.

Marquette seventh graders (23-2) have the opportunity to be state champs as they play in the IESA Class 1A State Championship at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at East Peoria Central Junior High against Lincoln West Broadwell (26-2). Marquette won its first round game, 47-40, against Cambridge and beat Augusta Southeastern 27-24 in the semifinal.

The Holy Cross seventh graders fell in the first round in Class 1A against Augusta Southeastern.

In eighth grade, La Salle Lincoln lost a Class 3A regional final against Rockford Kennedy 49-42 on Friday.

Holy Cross (17-2) plays in a eighth Class 1A Benson sectional championship against Streator Woodland (15-7) at 6 p.m. tonight.

Area schools may be added to trophy cases!!!!!!

The La Salle Lincoln eighth grade boys basketball team won a IESA Class 3A Regional 5 Semifinal against Rockford Marshall, 47-28, tonight in Rockford!

Marion Persich had a massive double-double with 21 points, 18 rebounds, six blocks, three assists, and two steals! Oh…and the dunk!!!

The Lynx play Rockford Kennedy in the Regional 5 Championship at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 at Rockford Marshall JH in Rockford.

CONGRATS to the Mendota Holly Cross eighth grade boys basketball team as they defeated Peru Catholic 57-32 tonight in the IESA Class 1A Regional 3 Championship at Holy Cross!

Cole Tillman led the Warriors with 32 points!

Holy Cross (17-2) plays Streator Woodland (15-7) in the Sectional 2 Championship at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5 at Roanoke-Benson Junior High in Benson.

Winner goes to the state tournament…
