Oglesby Washington seventh graders (22-0) have the chance to finish the season with a state title and an unblemished record!!!!
The Bulldogs beat Sidell Salf Fork 30-24 in the first round and Burr Ridge 31-30 in the semifinal to earn a spot in the IESA Class 2A State Championship against Effingham St. Anthony (26-2) at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at Macon Meridian High School.
Marquette seventh graders (23-2) have the opportunity to be state champs as they play in the IESA Class 1A State Championship at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at East Peoria Central Junior High against Lincoln West Broadwell (26-2). Marquette won its first round game, 47-40, against Cambridge and beat Augusta Southeastern 27-24 in the semifinal.
The Holy Cross seventh graders fell in the first round in Class 1A against Augusta Southeastern.
In eighth grade, La Salle Lincoln lost a Class 3A regional final against Rockford Kennedy 49-42 on Friday.
Holy Cross (17-2) plays in a eighth Class 1A Benson sectional championship against Streator Woodland (15-7) at 6 p.m. tonight.
Area schools may be added to trophy cases!!!!!!

Marion Persich dunk
The La Salle Lincoln eighth grade boys basketball team won a IESA Class 3A Regional 5 Semifinal against Rockford Marshall, 47-28, tonight in Rockford!
Marion Persich had a massive double-double with 21 points, 18 rebounds, six blocks, three assists, and two steals! Oh…and the dunk!!!
The Lynx play Rockford Kennedy in the Regional 5 Championship at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 at Rockford Marshall JH in Rockford.
It's official J.A. Happ Field is in Peru!! Happ spoke to the crowd, threw the first pitch for the St. Bede Alumni Game, and is now signing autographs!!
