The New England Journal of Medicine published an article and video that illustrates the proper procedure for donning and doffing PPE. Contamination can easily occur even when great attention is given to this process. Asking providers to reuse these masks over and over again magnifies this risk, as putting a ‘dirty’ mask back on can be dangerous.
