1️⃣ COMMUNICATE EXPECTATIONS - Don't expect your spouse to just know. Get curious. Give grace. Confirm you heard what was shared by saying, "I hear you saying... Is that what you meant?"

2️⃣ LAUGH OFTEN - Life is hard for every marriage at some point, so be intentional to look for moments during the bad to laugh. Humor is the enemy to defensive.

3️⃣ PRIORTIZE YOUR SPOUSE - Work, kids, family, and friends pull on us all the time, and our spouse can get our crumbs. Check in today and ask, "How can I better prioritize you in my day?"

Tired yet? Try these 3 things to break the cycle...

1️⃣ Own YOUR PART of the MISUNDERSTANDING/ DISAGREEMENT ● Self ownership lowers your partner's defensiveness and helps toward working out a solution.

2️⃣ Use "I STATEMENTS" instead of "YOU STATEMENTS" ● I statements help express to your spouse how things impacted you without focusing on them. You share info that they might not have realized. It helps build EMPATHY.

3️⃣ Attack the PROBLEM... NOT the PERSON ● It's so easy to only look at what we think they need to change, but it's powerful when 2 people are aligned to repair a relationship break. List the problem and brainstorm solutions. Be willing to listen and apply what you two come up with.

🗣 I know. It's so easy to just say, "I tried. They won't change anyway." Well, try again. Remember your vows. This might be the "for worse" season right now, but better is coming if you're willing to both work towards it. (It might just be you in the beginning, but TRY! ❤️

S*x is rarely the reason...

All of these issues are connected to a variety of nonsexual emotional and relational experiences. All of which are learned and result of some kind of attempt to self protect. ⁣

There is a lot of shame and anxiety motivating these challenges. ⁣
⁣
For some couples its an easy fix. But for most people - their sexuality is tangled up in a history of emotion. ⁣
⁣
To some extent, we need to work through these issues. But for some people, minor adjustments can help. And in those minor adjustments is where change can happen in other areas. ⁣
⁣
At a baseline - if you want to address sexual issues in your relationships, you have to start talking about them. Don't avoid.⁣
⁣
If you’re not attracted to your partner - that's a problem and something to be honest with yourself about. ⁣
⁣
**Non-sexual partners⁣
It’s ok if your relationship is not defined by a sexual connection. Many people engage in intimate relationships that aren’t sexual. And they are totally fine with that.**⁣
