Studies have shown that petting a cat or dog can reduce cortisol levels, a hormone that is linked to stress. Additionally, pets offer amazing companionship and affection. Take a break and spend some quality time with your furry friend to help ease your mind.

Reframing our thoughts and words are imperative in our growth mindset. Even if you haven't been able to accomplish something YET doesn't mean that you will never be able to accomplish it.

Try starting with looking at yourself in the mirror and saying something POSITIVE about yourself, not looking at your flaws or imperfections, but something that reminds you of the beautiful version God created you to be.

Let’s stop for a moment and consider our own personal growth over the past year. Which aspect of your life has experienced the most growth? Was it your career, your family relationships, or your personal development? Did you invest in your physical health or prioritize your mental well-being? Maybe your relationships have improved significantly.

I can definitely say I’ve seen growth in all these areas. Some things didn’t always feel good as I grew in some areas such as relationships, my spiritual walk with God, career/entrepreneurial acumen, etc. BUT what I’ve found is that it is all necessary to get to my next that God is calling me to do in my life.

For those that feel stuck, unseen, unheard, or worthless, I know that I am a vessel to help them rediscover who God calls them and created them to be for His glory. As God’s daughter and a licensed therapist I never want to take for granted what He has called me to be on this Earth.

My prayer for so many of you is that you are able to have a relationship with God so that you will find your identity in Him and then flow in your specific purpose.

HAPPY JUNETEENTH

A little long but READ IT ANYWAY👇🏾

On “Freedom’s Eve,” or the eve of January 1, 1863, the first Watch Night services took place. On that night, enslaved and free African Americans gathered in churches and private homes all across the country awaiting news that the Emancipation Proclamation had taken effect. At the stroke of midnight, prayers were answered as all enslaved people in Confederate States were declared legally free. Union soldiers, many of whom were black, marched onto plantations and across cities in the south reading small copies of the Emancipation Proclamation spreading the news of freedom in Confederate States. Only through the Thirteenth Amendment did emancipation end slavery throughout the United States.
But not everyone in Confederate territory would immediately be free. Even though the Emancipation Proclamation was made effective in 1863, it could not be implemented in places still under Confederate control. As a result, in the westernmost Confederate state of Texas, enslaved people would not be free until much later. Freedom finally came on June 19, 1865, when some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas. The army announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in the state, were free by executive decree. This day came to be known as "Juneteenth," by the newly freed people in Texas

Life is filled with uncertainty. Here are some ways to help as we navigate through different changes in our life.

1. You can start to challenge these behaviors and your need for certainty by asking yourself questions. Here’s an example: Are there times I can tolerate uncertainty? What do I do then?

2. Focus on the things you can control, make a choice to staying 'in the now', can help to reduce stress and worry.

3. You’ll be better equipped to handle challenging moments if you take care of your mind and body.
