While WMC is usually known for outdoor content, yesterday I got the chance to try something new. Since somewhere around 15 or 16 years old, I have absolutely loved Top Gear and The Grand Tour. We had a Dodge Hellcat, an open runway, and two Nikons, and 30 minutes to cobble something together, so I wanted to see how close I could come to the beautiful, dramatic, and inspiring productions I've come to love.

Due to spending so much time filming wildlife, I've gotten pretty used to shooting on the fly and taking everything I can from mere moments of useful footage. So from 30 minutes to shoot to a final cut, here's my first attempt at a car film.

Shot on Nikon Z9/Z7 with a little help from our colleague Zach that was willing to ride the lightning with his cell phone.

I'm usually known for tracking down big landscapes and epic wildlife. But today, I had the chance to imitate something I've been watching since Jeremy Clarks...

Hi everyone! I wanted to share the big horn sheep that are showing up on the property now that there's a deep blanket of snow at higher elevations. I put this together pretty quickly with handheld footage, so there will be a nicer edit later on. Enjoy!

Well, it's been a wild few weeks. We're back home in Estes, and RMNP has partially re-opened today. We went inside the limited open area to have a look. There are burn scars and a few small smoke plumes hanging around from the Thompson Zone of the East Troublesome Fire. On this east side of the park, the damage appears to be minimal upon first glance. With rain and snow coming this weekend, we might finally have an end to this fire season.

We evacuated Estes Park a few days ago when the East Troublesome Fire jumped the continental divide and came toward town. Grand Lake suffered some devastating losses, and we've been helped out by some great friends in Evergreen and here in Estes Park.

For the time being, we're back in town. We'll be piecing together some new content with whatever time we have here until such time as (if/when) the town gets evacuated again. If you're in Colorado and have the means to help those in need, please do so.

If you have any questions, ask them! We're here on location and have a first hand perspective.

Looking forward to the coming snow this weekend in Colorado. Let's be done with these fires!

We watched the Lefthand Canyon Fire today near Allenspark and thanks to the efforts of incredible wildland firefighters and pilots, it didn't instantly flash into another massive inferno.

A brief compilation from the past few days of Cameron Peak Fire activity. Many people are evacuating their homes, farms, and businesses. If the 2020 freight train of chaos has spared you, please help those in need.

Please call United Way at 2-1-1 (per Larimer County Sheriff's Office) if you can offer any assistance to those impacted by the Cameron Peak Fire. If you have food, water, horse property, open rooms, or just a place where people can park their RV, take this opportunity to pay it forward.

We're working on telling the story of the Cameron Peak Fire and the environmental and human impact. While the specific cause of this fire is still under investigation, there are a number of public policy factors that have led to the largest wildfire in Colorado history.

If you have been evacuated or otherwise impacted by the Cameron Peak Fire, we want to hear from you. Please email [email protected] and let us help you tell your story.

Hi, everyone! I'm Eliott. There's a lot of new people hanging out on this page, so I thought I'd introduce myself.

I run Wilderness Media Co and The Wilderness Diary, and along with some great friends and local businesses create outdoor and adventure photo and video content, much of which you see here.

I live in Estes Park year round these days (except for travel!), so you can often find me in Rocky Mountain National Park dressed just like this looking through my camera's viewfinder.

I'm fortunate to live in such an incredible place these days. I grew up in Indiana and Illinois. As a boy, my mother would often take me out to local forest preserves and I'd splash around catching frogs and snakes. I rekindled my love for the outdoors during my time at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, California. After leaving the Marine Corps, I did a lot of back country exploring in the beautiful American West.

Living in Arizona the past 8 years, I spent a lot of time in the incredible landscape of the southwest. And while I worked as Director of Marketing for a few places near Phoenix, my passion was always rooted in the rough solitude of the wild, not the polished wood of a desk.

After visiting the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness in 2014, I knew who I was and the kind of places I wanted to go. But a week or a weekend just wasn't enough to quiet down the call of the wild in my heart. Almodt by chance, I picked up a Nikon D3300 knowing only that a "DSLR" camera would be the answer for product photography at work.

While I was on the road visiting clients, I figured I should take some shots of the beautiful landscape surrounding me. Nature photography quickly grabbed a hold of me, and provided all new "missions" in my mind, giving me a goal-oriented approach to what most people would view as vacation. After a lot of outside interest in my developing photography skillset, I started getting a lot of traction with companies in the outdoor and tactical space.

If you're familiar with companies like 5.11 Tactical, First Tactical, Armor Express, Survival Armor, Haley Strategic Partners, Oboz Footwear, Conner Hats, Skaggs Public Safety Uniforms, or Arizona Highways Magazine, there's a good chance you've seen me and/or my work.

During the COVID lockdown, I had a chance to slow down and learn new things. I decided to figure out how to do video, and I am in love with the ways you can deeply create and shape story in the medium.

Today, you'll find me in the mountains with a gimbal and a Nikon Z7. Say hi if you see me on the trail!

Time lapse of the Cameron Peak Fire as seen from Estes Park. I believe I read that the wind gusts today have been 50-80 mph, so this is quite shaky.
