Music is such an important part of a wedding. It needs to be meaningful and also fit the vibe. For Sara and Beau, this meant choosing tracks from their favorite movies and games. From "Kakariko Village" (The Legend of Zelda) to "Romantic Flight" (How To Train Your Dragon Original Score by John Powell), each track couldn't have been better.
Congrats you two! I can't wait to finish your final film!

Pro tip: (Temple Weddings) if you're going to have a first look, do it on a separate day from the wedding. Why? Here are a few reasons!
1. Reduces stress. The wedding day is already full enough. Plus if your sealing is in the morning, that means doing the first look quote early!
2. It's private. When you pick your own location and time (instead of just doing it when you can on your wedding day) you can have all the privacy in the world. Great for getting good reaction audio from the groom! Or even doing a letter reading.
3. More time. When doing it a separate day, you have way more time! You don't have to worry about cutting it short for anything else.

Pro tip for looking good in your wedding film: look at each other more often than the camera. Most people aren't natural in front of the camera. So if you look at each other, it can help you focus on just being together and momentarily forget about the camera.

Shout out to Kean Photo + Video for being awesome to work with! (And I promise I'm not just saying that because she's my wife, she's really incredible!)

Last minute decision? Hire a videographer!
I was contacted to film this wedding just days before it took place. LUCKILY I was available.
Congrats Victoria and Holden! I can't wait to finish your final film!
Kyle & Jenny Sneak Peek
If a bride were to ask me for any advice before they planned their wedding, I'd tell them two things:
1. Get a videographer. Everyone knows you need a photographer, a cake, food, dress, rings, etc... But too often the videographer is a "last minute decision". We live in an age where video is becoming more and more essential. Heck, even Instagram is doing away with photos now.
2. Have as small a wedding as you can (or even elope!) Too often brides get caught up in how many people to invite and who to invite. Personally, I feel the fewer guests you have the better. This allows you to enjoy the ceremony for what it is: a sacred union between a man and a women, ordained by God. Yes you should invite some people in most cases, but I've never heard a bride complain to me that their wedding was "too small". Usually they say it's too big and stressful.
Anyway, here's a sneak peek of Kyle and Jenny's wedding film. It was a perfect size. Not too many guests, not too few. Congrats to them!

Pro Tip: Pick music that fits the couple.
Music plays such a HUGE role in filmmaking. It can make or break a project. Something I spend a lot of time on is picking the right music. So it was with this sneak peek. When I found this track, it fit Brynndi and Stratton perfectly!
Congrats you two! I can't wait to finish the final film 😁

Julia + Brendan's Sneak Peek
Ok brides listen up 👂
I often get asked "where's the best place for a first look?" To answer that question, here are some guidelines:
1. If possible, choose a location that's different than where you're getting married. This will add variety to your photos and video.
2. Try to choose a place that's reasonably quiet and secluded. That way you can hear to groom's reaction without the sound of cars driving by or other people disturbing you.
3. Choose a place that isn't too difficult to get to (where you can drive 90% of the way) this one is pretty obvious, but still worth mentioning. Not only is it hard to hike in your dress and shoes, but the photographer and videographer will probably have lots of gear to carry too.
As long as you remember these tips, your first look should go great! Just like Julia and Brendan's ❤️

Also, how precious is this couple? They're seriously so perfect together! I can't wait to share the full film and show everything we got at the temple too. (The brand new Saratoga Springs Temple is BEAUTIFUL 😍)

Brides to be and friends, listen up!
One of the most common questions I see in bride groups is "Should I hire a videographer?" and the most common answers are:
"Yes!"
"DON'T SKIP THE VIDEO"
"We didn't hire one, and we're regretting it now."
This isn't me being bias about videography. These are real brides who either hired someone and loved it, or didn't hire someone and regretted it. (or worse, hired someone who was inexperienced and got something they're unhappy with)
DON'T make this mistake. You might think of all the things you could do with the money you'd "save" by skipping the videographer. Or maybe you think that just hiring a photographer is enough. I can tell you from PERSONAL experience, this isn't the case. The biggest regret my wife and I have from our wedding (almost 8 years ago) is NOT getting a video.
I promise you that if you make the changes or even sacrifices needed to hire a professional videographer, you wont regret it. In 10 years, you probably won't even remember how much you paid for it. But you WILL be able to remember your day and all the little moments captured in the video. You'll be able to show your future generations all the little moments in MOTION. As you grow older together, you'll be able to look back 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, years later and relive that special day. The most important day of your life.
But don't just take my word for it... here are some google reviews from brides I've worked with:
"The video that Donovan created from our wedding is absolutely amazing. Something very meaningful to us was video of our grandparents talking to us. He took time to sit them down and talk with them to get these moments we will hold onto forever. Donovan went out of his way to capture every moment of our day perfectly. He is personable, funny, and an all around great person! If you are looking for a videographer look no further, Donovan is the best!!" - Carolyn
"Donovan is awesome!! He was so much fun to work with, super talented,

Alec and Alesha are married! I seriously had a blast capturing their special day. Make sure to congratulate them in the comments below!
Word of advice: Find someone who looks at you like these two look at each other.
Seriously, I can't get over how absolutely adorable these two are. Not to mention how sweet their first look was. From the Red Canyon Overlook to the Vernal Temple, Ruth Ann and Scott took advantage of every moment together.

This wedding was bitter sweet. On one hand, Matt and Carolyn are the sweetest, kindest souls you will ever meet. But on the other hand, this was the last wedding Kean Photo + Video and I shot before moving back to Utah.
Congratulate Matt and Carolyn by liking and sharing this video!
When I was asked to film Rachel and Amir's wedding just about a week ago, it was really short notice. Luckily I had the day available, because I think their short Highlight Film turned out incredible. They had originally only booked me to film the ceremony, but I decided to put something more together. I think it turned out great!
If I had to choose one word to describe this couple and their wedding, it would be "ENERGY"! The entire day was filled with laughter, jumping, yelling for joy, and dancing. Seriously one of the craziest weddings I've ever done.

The little chapel at @grandoaksvenue is the PERFECT place for a wedding ceremony. Not to mention the grounds and reception hall. There's just something so charming about small chapels!

Hey brides!
After filming this wedding, I found out that I LOVE classic getaway cars. Not only do they offer a classy way to exit, but they're AWESOME for your photos and videos.
May I suggest that you plan for a classic getaway car for your wedding? I don't think you'll regret it!
I also don't think you'd regret hiring me as your wedding videographer. I've been in the business for 7+ years and love what I do. You're welcome to check out my website, link in my bio 😁

When I was originally approached to film Tori and Sebastian's wedding in the mockumentary style like "The Office" I didn't realize it was going to become one of my favorite video projects I've ever done. If you have a few minutes, watch until the end, you won't regret it. Especially if you love The Office.
