Bouncing around colleges from Iowa and Illinois, Andrew was told that he needed to pay for his studies himself. He started working for bands and ended up being at state management. Time went by and he was playing with a band. Maybe 12 buses, 30 cars, and a lot of people from different places and organizations from all over the city came to support a big caravan to surprise President Nixon at his White House in Key Biscayne. “We went to Key Biscayne to speak to the president. Every six people there was one of us wearing a ribbon to identify ourselves. “After Hurricane Andrew, a lot of the places were not around anymore and we really got to work afterward. Even though the building we had at that time was hit and damaged we still had a roof so most organizations and people met there” Maria said.
