SUCCESSFUL REIMPLANTATION OF THE AMPUTATED THUMB BY JAMMU BASED DOCTOR
A team led by Jammu based doctor Dr Pinki Pargal working in CMC Hospital Ludhiana as Professor plastic surgery treated a patient aged 29 year old male from ludhiana who was a case of assault leading to the total amputation of his left thumb and multiple other sharp injuries .
Successful reimplantation was done by Dr Pinki Pargal after a 6hours long surgery.
Dr Pinki Pargal is daughter of Sh Chaman Lal Pargal (Retd ETO) r/o Gandhinagar .Dr Pinki Pargal did her MBBS and MS(Surgery) from GMC Jammu. Then she did her M.Ch (Plastic Surgery) from CMC Ludhiana and after completing her course joined there as Assistant Professor. Recently,she was promoted as Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery.
Dr Pinki has expertise in microvascular surgeries,burns,cosmetic surgery,congenital anomalies like cleft lip & cleft palate patients,craniofacial injuries,hand injuries & trauma head & neck.
It is pertinent to mention that very few institutions have the capability to treat such conditions and Christian Medical College & Hospital is pioneer in microvascular surgeries.
When contacted Dr Pinki said awareness needs to be spread among public that amputated limbs can be salvaged, provided amputated parts are brought in proper condition & within 6 hours of golden period.
