Big news โbrewingโ in Rochester! According to news reports, the historic Genesee Brewery is investing $50 million to modernize its facilities and bring production of Labatt Blue and Labatt Blue Light to the U.S. for the first time! This three-year project is said to create a world-class packaging facility, add capacity, and create 57 new jobs. Renovations are expected to be completed in 2026. NYS is said to have pledged a $7 million capital grant to parent company FIFCO USA for the project. The brewing facility is 146 years old.

What started out as two periods of relatively uneventful and low scoring hockey, flipped the Veterans Arena on its side in the 3rd period of Friday nightโs game against the Danville Dashers.
At the end of two periods it was 1-0, Black Bears lead. Respectively, shots on goal were 25-17. Nothing too much to get excited about. Then came the 3rd.
The third period was just an all out blowout. While the Dashers scored the first goal of the period to tie it at 1 -1, the Bears came back to score 6 unanswered goals, but that wasnโt the only excitement!
Throughout the game there were some minor skirmishes, but with 6:17 left on the clock, things let loose.
Behind the Bearโs goal and with a lot of punches being thrown, fights involving Kirkby and Anderson (for the Bears) got fans on their feet. With attention of that distracting fans momentarily, goal tenders McAnanama and Rutherford met at center ice to have discussion and their own scuffle, which really got fans on their feet and excited. It all happened so quickly, I had to grab video from the replay.
While tempers quickly flared, it all settled down just as quick and the game closed out without any further altercations and the Dashers seemed ready to go.
Tonightโs game (Dec 21) against the Motor City Rockers should be another fun and exciting game against a team we donโt get to see much of. So, if you havenโt purchased your tickets yet, you might want to do so and grab up some good seats to watch the action!

And donโt forget, the Christmas light show at Otsiningo Park continues through Jan 5th. Santa will make numerous appearances and there will be another Fireworks Show on December 31. See you there!

Mercy House, โA Home for the terminally illโ held their 11th Annual โGala of Tasteโ fund raiser Thursday evening, October 24th. Mercy House is a community care shelter which provides a home and a supportive family to people with terminal illnesses who can no longer remain at home. Residents spend their final days surrounded by their loved ones, and the love of Mercy House staff and volunteers. The mission of Mercy House is to unconditionally accept each resident and ensure that they are treated with dignity, respect and compassion
