I FINALLY did it.
Bought Saturday, 3/16, from a retired couple in Iowa. Delivered to my house south of KC in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, 3/19.
Nope, it's not a Plymouth/Desoto/Chrysler/Imperial product. Still MOPAR, but honestly, I don't think I had seen (or taken time to notice) this year/model of Dodge. I like Polaras and Monacos, but an 880? Whodathunkit.
It's growing on me more and more. Helps to see it sitting in your own garage, ya know? :) Plus, the price point was most excellent, especially for a running/driving car with no body rust. The trunk pan could stand to be replaced, but I'm not an aesthetic purist, and it doesn't have any holes. That will be a "much further down the road" kind of thing.
As for specs:
361 CID B V8 / 265HP
3-speed pushbutton Torqueflight automatic
17 ft 11 inches bumper-to-bumper
77K+ original miles
Original paint on original interior (red/red); looks like a raw roast on wheels.
First up:
-brakes must be addressed. They're...not great. At all.
-carb needs rebuilt. It has sat for a long time, and has bad gas mixed with some good. Test drive it ran well. Here...it farts, belches, and coughs like my dad after tacos.
So after it's safe to drive, I have to figure out a stereo installation that won't put holes in the door/rear deck for speakers. Trying to suss out if bluetooth speakers are a possibility. Google is dogfighting me on the search terms. Sure, the stock A.M. radio works in it! But there's only so much conspiracy theory and sports radio I can stand (make that, none), soooooo I need muh muzik!
