I now realize that if we could have consistently gotten fresh produce at sea, the meals would have been that much better. I used frozen greens to stay true to the long shelf life of food we had to store during deployment.

The fried seabass sandwich, impaled by a steak knife, is an experimental creation by Younes at Itavie New York Grill & Bakery. This sandwich feeds into my longing desire to be what I always wanted to be when I grew up—a pirate.

A customer of theirs said it best in the socials I'm managing for them, "This sandwich ain't flopping around," flopping? We're all adults here. It was then I realized I have some tight profanity controls on their platforms.

I never considered vegetarianism being an option until I went to Aladin Mediterranean Kitchen. I've also discovered that vegetarians and vegans are only seen as militant because we only ever hear from the loud ones. Anyway, I'll just say this once, I'm now a vegetarian 46% of time versus 25% before.

Featuring one of their Vegan and Vegetarian specials shot for one of their campaigns a while back.

I’m in the mood to showcase some photos on this video platform. Haven’t quite found the right equipment for my minimal high volume commercial kitchen setup lighting setup; but I’m getting closer to the look I want. What you see are a restaurant’s, , actual food going to their guests. No food handling, no arranging, just moving lights and adjusting a handheld camera.

This couple thought they were going to have a small wedding at a restaurant I was doing work for at the time - with no photos. Let me put the Rescue in I Rescue Media and make sure they enter marriage with some solid images of their wedding.

If you’re wondering, I don’t shoot weddings. Well, I can, under the right conditions. I should make a Reel about why I don’t shoot them anymore.

If the way you describe luck is to say that it's a magical force that only exists for other people, and is always conveniently absent when you need it most - then I wish the luckiest day for you. 🍻

Thank you for the impromptu and quick thinking in your styling. I’ve been trying to gather images for drinks during a hectic schedule. Lucky to have a highly skilled friend.

I thought digital would never go vintage. 😂

Honestly, I love that my childhood and first cameras are becoming cool. I think that makes me and the rest of us Gen X’ers cool.

One shot is from an DLSR (Big Pro Gear) then edited in and the other is from a late model iPhone edited from for mobile. One image has more depth to it in my opinion but when it comes to pleasing the patron’s eye - both equally have the ability to capture attention.

When it comes to capturing “pro”images of food and drinks, it's not just about the camera you use, but also the skills of the person behind it. Whether you're using a high-end DSLR or a late-model smartphone camera, both can take stunning images that will stop your follower’s scroll. So don't be afraid to experiment with different cameras and techniques, and always remember to play with lighting and composition to make your food and drink shots stand out.

This video of our holiday dinners was sitting in the drafts, not the greatest review ever but in short, Umi’s was great and we’ll go back again next Christmas and sooner. The follow up video was our home cooked Thanksgiving dinner.

At Umi’s, we tend to order the bento boxes which are perfect for those that cannot make up their mind. They don’t serve ramen, but they do have this spicy noodle soup that’s good enough for me! Brings me back to being stationed in Japan. My fondest memory there was when I rented an apartment next door to a ramen shop. After getting to know the owner he worked a deal with me, “teach my kids basic English and I’ll feed you for free.” Really all I did was say hi and color animal pictures with them. Which was good enough I guess. My point to this story, is the food brought me back to a great moment in time. Umi’s is good.

Here’s another AI generated image with very specific prompts. I was trying to pull a lighting design from my mind and get it on screen as I am bringing another restaurant onboard and want to create a unique aesthetic for them. What I love about AI is it really expands my creativity, immensely!

If you’re interested in learning more, my friend I am a free data base and will share the world with you.

I did work with the cofounder and Afghan owner to build a dine-in Afghan restaurant. Neither one of us with any restaurant experience. 😂 We just know the right people to ask and my toxic trait is I will jump into the unknown without thinking about it. I was a Mass Communications Specialist in the Navy who took his multi media, branding, and engagement skillset to the commercial industry. Never looked back. I hate to sound cliche, but mindset is a real thing. Winners don’t quit and quitters never win.

Part 2: Tell me you were a Navy photographer having to make magic happen in the smallest of ship compartments without saying you were.

If I’ve gotta make it happen of the trunk of a car for a food truck menu shoot. Consider the job done. 😂 I didn’t choose the name I Rescue Media for nothing.

I recently experimented with using AI to create an image of birria tacos with a specific lighting aesthetic. While the resulting image wasn't perfect, it did inspire me to think about the potential for using AI as a tool for planning and storytelling.

For example, as a wedding photographer, I could use AI to visualize and create a scene for a couple that captures a special moment or place, like where they first met. And as a photographer or artist, you can use AI to learn from your own imagination and create something truly unique.

Overall, I think AI has a lot of potential, but it's important to remember that real images and organic moments will always have value and appeal.

Bland food is the worst. Here to fight against that is Always Flavored is a local and growing brand that sources their ingredients locally and produced naturally. I personally tried each of the sandwiches and can tell you they were the highlight of my day. Working with the Rita, the owner, was also an absolute pleasure and I look forward the future of her company carrying award winning sauces.

Ok, so it’s finally done and opened. My long hiatus was wrapped up in developing from concept to table . This was one hell of a venture! One I’m proud of, more about this later. For now, I just wanted to drop a line and say I’m alive. 😂

I have been driving by this building for a while now, thinking it was an old movie rental place that was still getting business. As I drove closer to it one day I realized it’s an 80s-90s themed venue with a classic video arcade setup from back in the day. There’s also a living room setup called “grandma’s living room” that will take many us back on the nostalgia train. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience there. They do serve drinks and food. 🍻 I just wanted to say thank you to them for creating an awesome spot in town and will be back.

So I think it doesn’t matter too much what I say in my IG photo captions. Other than this is a well styled sandwich I put together for a photo. Tomorrow I’ll make a video post if this and it’ll outperform it for sure 😂. I still want to give a hot tip regardless of reach.

Sandwich shop owner and food blogger sandwich tip:

1) Of course you want to showcase your food as is and sandwiches can be tough to show all ingredients. Styled pro photos like this are great and are best for website cms, online magazines and blogs. But for everyday social media use, you’re not gonna get what you see exactly.

2) The non-hyper styled sandwich you actually make still has its best angles and holds to shoot.

A. Hero Shot for square bread: Diagonally cut it and take and a shot of both insides of the sandwich being held together. This is because all the pieces to your sandwich are more in the core of the sandwich.

B. Hero Shot for sub rolls, take your shot while the whole sandwich is open faced before closing the roll. Once you’ve closed it, in most cases you can’t really see what’s going on, even if you cut it in the middle. The sandwich is so narrow that a shot of it in the middle makes it underwhelming and dwarfs the insides.

Both of these shots look great in video too. Catch all the action of you making and cutting the sandwich. Take your time and hold the video a little longer with the hero shots above.

Shot one and two,
