The 2 pics in the collage were taken in Cedarburg WI: the mural on the left depicts many of the town's historic & unique features; on the right, is the current Town Hall (& former High School). Wednesday, 05/31/2023, Cousin Brenda & I took a day exploration road trip, traveling from Algonquin IL to Darien WI (via US 12) to Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive via LaGrange WI, Palmyra WI, Eagle WI & Pike Lake. Then, we went east through Slinger WI to Cedarburg WI. After walking around & checking out some of the local places, we drove south through Milwaukee (seeing Miller Park in the distance) over to I-43 & back into IL via Wilmot WI. We drove through McHenry IL, right past the Outdoor Theater, back to Algonquin IL.

| _ Forever & a day have flown by since the last time new versions of the regular OC,SH themes have published, so this week is a treat.

This is #9 of 9 images from the new batch to be featured (with description, below), 1 for each of the current OC,SH themes: "Heart Matters", "Music Monday", "Tuesday Treasure", "Wayback Wednesday", "Thursday Thought", "Fun Friday", "Saturday Story", "Screen Sunday" & "Daily Cruise".

Each post publicizes 'live' [i.e. not created & scheduled for later] at different times each day; each image includes a new bitmoji "theme stamp", a nod to a close friend (RIP) who introduced me to the personal emojis.

This "Daily Cruise" entry (part of a new photo collection) features 1 of several display cases I recently re-designed/re-configured with the help of my Nephew James. This particular case includes a Dodge Charger concept, a Caprice Estate wagon, a motorhome, the Ford LTD Country Squire wagon featured in yesterday's "Screen Sunday", a Ford fire car, a VW bus & a 2nd motorhome, along with the hood ornament from my former 1979 Caprice Classic "Winter Warrior".

That's me in the pic with the tan 1976 MC. I vividly remember hearing & being slightly scared by CW McCall's "Convoy" while we drove to PA late on a Friday night when I was a wee youngster. I thought the semis were right behind us....

This "Saturday Story" entry (part of a new photo collection) tells MY story (versus the usual feature of my writings) of a big part of my life, Monte Carlos.

Telling that tale in this image.....1 model I've had for many years (Johnny Lighting 2-tone green 1970 MC)..2 newly-obtained models (Johnny Lighting 2-tone green 1979 MC & HotWheels gold 1988 MC LS)..& a pic of me with "my" [parents'] 1976 MC, the day they traded it for a 1982 Chevette, September 1984.

For ~10 years, I had 5 MCs at the same time, representing all 4 original generations:
1972 (1970-2, 1st; brown-tan)
1976 L (1973-7, 2nd; triple black)
1979 L (1978-80, 3rd; light green)
1981 SC (1981-8, 4th; tan)
1987 LS/CL (1981-8, 4th; light blue)

Of those, I only have the 1981 MC SC (which my parents bought brand new), along with my daily driver, 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LS.

You'll notice this image showcases the 1st 4 original MC generations, while the 3 models in the pic depict the 1st MC (1970), the last RWD MC (1988) & the middle of the 1970-1988 span (1979).

My 2 cars (1981 Monte Carlo SC & 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LS) aren't exactly "back-to-back", but name 2 songs you'd like to hear in a twin spin. For example, I've played Heart's "Will You Be There?" & Dan Seals' "I Will Be There" paired together! [I took this photo in southeast Illinois, 10/29/2022, during part 2 of my mini road trip.]

What does a pair of Mercurys have to do with music? Nothing really, tho this image (which I took mid July 2022 when I met up with a friend in Marengo IL) illustrates why I love hosting my radio show! The Topaz on the left is one of those cars that used to be everywhere, but now is rarely seen. The Grand Marquis LS on the right is one of those cars you still see everywhere. On my radio show, I mostly spin the tunes you don't hear much anymore because a song remembers when, whether or not it was a chart topper.

| _ This Old Cars, Strong Hearts tribute is a long time coming. My closest-ever friend & OC,SHer, Dan C, died early AM 03/15/2022; I was with him in the hospital ICU when he last breathed. I took the photo of his green-tan 1997 Ford F-150, "Lucky Kelly", at the 08/18/2021 Cruise Night.

Dan, a very talented writer, was supportive of CD Consulting Service & CD Showcase as well. He had been looking forward to when I would again post regularly, since he had been posting for his business & on his hobby page. I also never got a chance to show him my new Business Cards.

My treasured 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LS, peeking through Lucky Kelly's windshield in the pic, eclipsed 200,000 miles in late February 2022 [a celebratory post is 1 of several OC,SH statuses & website posts in the works], but I put many more miles on it the week of Dan's death, driving from Elgin IL to LaGrange IL each day to assist with plans & arrangements, as well as attend the visitation & burial.

"The universe is unfolding as it should."

While I'm not fond of some turns taken, I've seen evidence Dan is correct about this, which would make him smile. My world is not the same now. But, I am so very lucky to have met & shared some life with Dan.
