http://southsuburbangazette.net/2020/06/the-21st-century-french-revolution-and-the-war-on-cops/

The events that America is facing these past several months are reminiscent of a bad post-apocalyptic disaster movie.   The modern day “Woke” movement is becoming a combination of the French Revolution, Chinese Cultural Revolution, and the worst nightmares of George Orwell all wrapped into one...

A surprise attack came over the land of the free and home of the brave. All across America major cities were nearly destroyed by rioters and looters 2 weeks ago.  As if we didn’t have enough being locked down for 3 months with a global pandemic. It just was another punch to the gut when …

June 6, 1944, 76 years ago today, thousands of Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy. Nearly 4,500 Allied troops, including 2,499 Americans, with an average age of 20, gave their lives that day. Today we remember their sacrifice.

COVID-19 Update: Liquor Stores to Close Early in Chicago

City of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has issued a 9 p.m. curfew on liquor sales to support the new coronavirus stay-at-home order. This change in time to close will be starting Thursday, April 9. The Mayor feels liquor stores have become a meeting place for groups and wants liquor store owners to close at least by 9:00 PM or earlier.

This effort was to limit future large groups hanging around Liquor Stores. Chicago Police have dispersed groups in excess of more than 2,000 times in recent days for the '10 or more ruling'. Interim Chicago Police Supt. Charlie Beck said there were more than 300 gatherings last night (Tuesday) due to the warm weather. Chicago Police have issued 11 citations to people not complying with the stay at home order, with fines totaling over $5,000.00.

The City of Chicago also noted that the Consumers Protection Department has issued more than 20 citations to a total of eight different businesses for being open and being a non-essential business. These fines totaled $120,000.00.

The Governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker, has considered the early closing statewide but has not made any official announcement. Other major cities are looking at limiting the number of hours liquor stores are open. A couple of states have reviewed the option of closing all liquor store for an undetermined number of days, but have not moved forward with these closings.

According to City officials, DeKalb has no plans to request local liquor stores to change their closing hours as long as they meet current liquor codes. The DeKalb Jewel/Osco liquor department has changed entrance patterns to control the number of people in the department at any one time.

Orland Park Trustee Jim Dodge issues a statement on the COVID-19 crisis:

Two important updates. During the President’s Task Force briefing today, it was announced millions of Covid 19 test kits are being made available to our nation’s health care system.

Also, the University of Chicago facility at 143rd and LaGrange will start testing soon.

This is very important: If you have symptoms or know you been exposed and need a test, contact your doctor first.

Don’t seek testing if you don’t need it, we all need to manage the demand on the health care system as best we can.
