Update: I'm looking at a few different ways of doing the nominations this year. I really want to get more bands and artist a chance to have their music nominated and heard. I'm not for sure having some committee pick the nominations I want the fans of music involved. So I'm looking at options from other awards shows. One thing I could really use the help of everyone is, spreading the word around to your favorite bands and artist about this award show. I want to make sure the bands in Eastern Washington are more represented, as well as bands far North and South. I want to make this a full Washington award show. Nominations won't start until January of 2025, so everyone still has 3 months to release all their music. Remember for each category, it's for music of 2024 ONLY. Here are the categories

10) Rock
11) Pop
12) Best Live show
13) Best Duo
14) Best Solo

On the next update I will be more clear about what each category means. There was confusion before when artist were nominated for example Best Up and Coming, and also Local Legend. You can't be up and coming and a legend right? So stay tuned for updates as the process is starting to gear up. I know some have offered to help this year with the process, and I will be in touch with you for help as I get the systems laid out.

Starting to get things going.

Update for the next Award show. It will be on April 13th at the Spanish Ballroom. This date will give all of 2024 for music to be released and eligible for nomination. I have heard that some people that met at last years show have worked together this year, and putting out some great music. There will be more updates as we are now getting closer and things are starting to come together.

Once again Washington State Independent Music Awards will be held April 13 2025 at the Spanish Ballroom from 5pm to 8pm.

Here is a update for the Washington State Independent Music Awards 2025. Of course the award will be for all music done in the calendar year of 2024. Since we are half way through the year I thought I'd give a little reminder to all the might be interested. There has been no real planning as of yet, but it is starting to rev up in my mind some. Plans are to have the award show in April of 2025. This is to make sure that every bit of music is involved from the whole 12 months of 2024. I felt like some got left out last year. Also a big push will be done to include musicians and bands on the eastern side of the mountains, because again I felt they weren't include as much. There will be one category added, and that will be for best solo artist. There has been a lot of musicians doing solo shows the last couple years especially, and I would like them included as well. I will be contacting people that said they would like to help this year probably after July, to see what everyone is capable of helping with. I have some big things going on up till the end of July so I can really give my full attention to the awards until then.

I'm hearing that a few musicians met each other at the last award show, and have done some collaborations, and recordings together already which I love. That is really one of the big things I want the show to do, is bring together musicians that might not ever have been in the same room together, or met each other. I would love to hear one of those recordings actually make it to the top 3 next show, if not win.

Once again I want to remind all that get nominated for a award, even if it's not the top ten, how awesome that is. You took dead air and put music there from your brain and your heart and it touched someone enough to say it's the best to them. Not many people can ever do that in a lifetime about something they create, from their life experience and their soul.

So I hope you all will get excited to be at this celebration once again. This is such a great chance for networking, finding new musicians to collaborate with. Chances to find people that can help you to reach your goals, or you can help to reach theirs. So for the next 6 months I hope all of your recording sessions, your song writing, your bookings, and of course your shows are outstanding!!

Went down last night and was able to give The Stacy Jones Band their award for Best Blues Band. I also got to see them live for the first time. Now I know exactly why they won.

Announcement time: As some of you know this award show was always planned to be a one and done. After long consideration, and talking with people close to me. We WILL have another award show next year. I have 2 pages of things that need to done or not done to make next year better. I will have teams to help with things like marketing, counting nominations etc. I don't think I can do it all myself another year. The one change I want to tell you about right now is that this year will go from January to December before we even start with nominations. We messed some months I feel last year and this year I want to make sure we get every month in for artist to release their music, and video's. With that said the award event will be held in April. That will give us time to start nominations get through the whole process and hopefully have at least a month and a half to do marketing, get trophies made and get the whole show mapped out etc. Plus hopefully we won't have to worry about snow and ice at that time of year as well. So everyone has 12 months to get their artistic projects released. I'm hoping with help from other people, we will make this next event bigger and better than this years.
