How to choose the right mount for your TV.
There are a few options when choosing a mount for your TV.
The most common are the following:
1. Fixed Mount
2. Tilt Mount
3. Full Motion Mount
4. Mantel Mount
Fixed Mounts:
Just like they sound, these are fixed mount. They hang flat against a wall and don’t offer any movement away from the wall whatsoever. Most of the time, this is plenty sufficient, and good news, it’s the least expensive option.
Tilt Mounts:
Tilt mounts only allow you the ability to angle the mount up or down. It won’t come away from the wall or tilt on a sideways angle.
We recommend Tilt mounts for TV’s going in bedrooms so they can angle down toward the bed if needed. We also suggest them if your mount has to be hung slightly higher than average, or if you want to tilt it to avoid light or sun glare coming toward the TV.
Full Motion Mounts:
Just like they sound, these move in any direction. You can tilt up or down, on a side angle, adjust the left side or right side, and pull away from the wall to angle toward another room.
We recommend these if you’re going to need to move the TV often, want it to be visible in multiple rooms, like a living and dining room, or if you’re going to need to connect/disconnect devices frequently.
These are heavier models, which cause some tension, but as long as they are mounted properly, they should not cause any issues.
Mantel Mounts:
This is a premium brand that is made for TV’s above a fireplace. While the other mounts may work, the added benefit of the Mantel Mount is that it arcs away from the wall and down.
The benefit here is that you can lower the TV to an optimal viewing height while watching, and then easily lift back up above the mantel when not viewing, keeping the TV out of the way.
