Last week I showed up to the local senior center around lunchtime with a one-light portrait set-up and a backdrop with an offer to photograph the community’s seniors, free of charge. They let me in and obliged the offer. No one asked me why I was doing it, but had they, I’d have shared the importance that I feel in having photographs of our loved ones. I wish I had more of my grandparents. Nonetheless, a reluctant bunch of seniors participated and it was a pleasure to make them feel like they were in grade school again posing for pictures. Whether or not anyone enjoys this set of images is irrelevant; I enjoyed the interaction and the chance to give back to my community. Let’s face it, none of us are getting any younger.
