Vice President has tapped (Cuh-my-ya)– formerly a senior adviser and spokesperson for the Biden-Harris ticket – as a senior adviser for her 2024 presidential campaign. Kamau, a two-time graduate of Texas Southern University and former student leader, brings a decade of experience in communications and political strategy. He has worked on high-profile congressional and presidential campaigns, including a pivotal role at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and as a Senior Advisor for the 59th Presidential Inaugural Committee.

It’s a historic moment to see Kamala Harris, a former student leader at Howard University, an HBCU in Washington, D.C., appointing another HBCU graduate from Texas Southern University as her senior adviser. This connection underscores the influence and leadership cultivated at HBCUs across the nation.

Dear HBCU Community,

As the upcoming election approaches, our mission to ensure that our HBCU students are prepared and informed voters is critical. However, we’re facing a significant challenge: our Get Out The Vote Empowerment and Education Initiative desperately needs your support. Despite our best efforts, we’ve struggled to secure necessary funding for this vital program.

Our dedicated student volunteers, over 400 strong across various HBCU campuses, are ready and eager to mobilize from the first week of the school year. These passionate individuals are the backbone of our initiative, tirelessly preparing to lead a successful voter registration drive. Unfortunately, without financial support, their readiness and enthusiasm cannot be translated into action.

This is a crucial moment, and we urgently need your help. If you can, please click the link to donate to our cause: https://chuffed.org/project/they-not-like-us-voting-empowerment-and-education-initiative If a financial contribution isn’t possible at this time, sharing this message with your network can also make a tremendous difference.

We often see other initiatives receive support effortlessly, and it’s disheartening that we have to continually plead for the resources necessary for such an important cause. Your support can propel this initiative forward, ensuring our students’ hard work makes a significant impact.

Let’s come together to support the future leaders of our communities. Every bit of help counts, and your involvement is crucial.

Thank you for whatever you can do to support these efforts. Your participation is invaluable.

Breaking News: In an unprecedented move, President Joe Biden has announced he will not seek re-election in 2024, instead throwing his full support behind Vice President Kamala Harris, a proud Howard University alumna. He shared, “My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today, I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”
