Promo Video: NRP Prescribed Burn
It’s that time of the year again! Here’s a badass video we made for Native Resource Preservation on one of their recent prescribed burns. Check out their page to learn all about why prescribed fire is beneficial and how they conduct them throughout the month of May 🔥
New Business Cards!
⚫ New business cards! ⚫
When we started Star Media in 2019, we picked a fun template for our business cards, didn’t change much, and printed them. We didn’t put a lot of thought into branding or making sure it was cohesive with the look of our website - it was just about getting the key info on the card. Now that I’ve been running Star Media for nearly 3.5 years, it has been on my to-do list to update my business cards! I did a pretty large overhaul of my website at the end of 2022 (I’m really proud of it now, so you should go check it out!) and I’ve now done a complete overhaul of my business cards to match: with big intentions to focus on branding and presenting Star Media properly to anyone I hand out my card to. What do you think of the final design??
I don’t know if either the business cards or website project would’ve been done in such a timely manner if it wasn’t for my networking group holding me accountable! We meet every other Tuesday at Insight Brewing in Minneapolis. If you’re a business owner or a leader at your company and want to join, make connections, and meet your goals every quarter, send me a message! It’s free and your drink is on me. 😊
Behind The Scenes: Potekglass Beads
Behind the scenes of a recent shoot at Potekglass! You can sign up to learn how to make glass beads of your own - classes starting on April 15th at their shop in Minneapolis. These are SO detailed and fun! I had a great time taking these photos.
NRP Prescribed Burn - Drone Footage
Prescribed burn season is always exciting with Native Resource Preservation ! This fall, NRP sent us a bunch of drone footage to create into a video for their social media pages while they discussed everything about controlled fires (check out their December content!). Choosing music, color grading to match their branding, and cutting clips to match the excitement of the content are a few things we kept in mind while editing this video.
Although we always prefer to be in on the action, getting photos and videos ourselves, it works out well for our clients to send us content if that isn’t possible (or as an aide to the things we capture ourselves - like drone footage). Show NRP some love, learn about ecological restoration, and give them a follow!
How-To Holiday Centerpiece - A Precious Petals Florist
Now that the holidays are over, it’s the start of a new year, and we have a little time to breathe again, we’ll be reflecting on some end-of-the-year projects we did and posting them on here over the next few weeks! We created this How-To Holiday Centerpiece video with A Precious Petals Florist to promote their holiday arrangement services.
We first worked with Reba, the owner of Precious Petals, to create an outline for the video (and from there, a script) and a shot list for narrative and supporting shots. With Reba’s decorations and the snowy weather outside, we hoped to create a fun Christmas-y mood to get viewers in the holiday spirit! This how-to centerpiece was so fun to make and we can’t wait to share later this month other work we’ve done with Precious Petals!
BTS - Fall Product Photos at Precious Petals
Behind the scenes at A Precious Petals Florist! This is what it looks like taking photos of some of their fall flowers for their website catalog.
-White backdrop
-Flash (to bounce light off the left side to make up for the natural light coming from the glass door on the right)
-Tripod (to take long exposure photos for bright lighting without jarring shadows)
-a7iii camera with 24-105mm lens
-Rustic table base provided by Precious Petals to stay consistent with their branding
-Post-processing to brighten up the images and get rid of distractions
Liz Johnson Real Estate - Listing vs. Off-Market Deals
Welcoming a new client, Liz Johnson Real Estate! Back in March, we filmed a video for Liz to get an important message out to people selling their homes. We are excited that we are now working with Liz to manage her social media accounts! Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Google Business - using different strategies on each platform to get the most success. Give Liz a follow on Facebook and Instagram to show your support!
Vandalia Glassworks offers a unique service for wedding ceremonies! Instead of the traditional sand ceremony, they offer glass unity ceremonies! They’ll work with you to choose colors that fit your wedding theme or home decor, send you glass frit that you can mix during the wedding, and then use the mixed glass to create a variety of beautiful glass pieces. We filmed this process from start to finish and the bride and groom got a pair of custom wine glasses and a vase! To learn more about this service and see our video on their website, check out vandaliaglassworks.com/pages/unity-glass-ceremony
We’ve seen some of the biggest successes posting glass blowing reels of creating memorial orbs on Pure Life Glass’s Instagram! We can’t say we’re surprised, though, because how amazing is this process?!
Walking through our editing process for Quality Auto Care Center ! To stay consistent, we apply a preset that we’ve created specifically for Quality Auto (based on the lighting, colors, and subject matter of the photos we shoot for their social media accounts each month). While the preset is a good starting point, photos always require a little extra tweaking to make them perfect!
We are so excited to share Native Resource Preservation’s spring prescribed burn video! Every spring and fall, conditions are right for prescribed burns, and every spring and fall, we have a blast photographing and filming one of those prescribed burns. In this video, we’re showing what a prescribed burn looks like from the prep, to dropping fire, to the post-burn.
I have a background in environmental science, so working with Native Resource is always so much fun. Writing content for them and making ecological videos feels like going back to my roots. For the whole month of May on NRP’s social media pages, we discussed why prescribed burns are a great ecological restoration method and how NRP conducts them. Check it out and let us know if you learned something!
Vandalia Glassworks is having their second Color Me Crazy event this Saturday, April 9th at 5pm! Due to covid cases last year, we decided to film an entire gallery walk-through of each artist’s glass in case people didn’t feel comfortable coming in-person. This year, we’re in much better shape, so you’ll have to stop in and see all of the artist's work in person (and some live glass blowing demonstrations)! 😍
