Oh the places we go…in our dinghy!

We’re going on 4 seasons now and although our trusty car, ꒒ꋬ꒒꒒ꄲ, {which stands for Living a 𝓵𝓲𝓯𝓮 𝓵𝓮𝓼𝓼 𝓸𝓻𝓭𝓲𝓷𝓪𝓻𝔂}, is an ᥲᑲs᥆ᥣᥙ𝗍ᥱ 𝙻𝙸𝙵𝙴𝚂𝙰𝚅𝙾𝚁🛟 when it comes to living full time on a sailboat, she’s seen her better days. 😂 However, she’s our ticket to all kinds of 𝒆𝒙𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 adventures and essential tasks that we couldn’t do without her!Need to stock up on groceries? No problem, our dinghy gets us to land in a jiffy. 🤗 Meeting up with friends for dinner or a fun Happy Hour? Our dinghy is our designated driver. 😎 Heading over to other cruiser’s boats to hang out and swap stories? Our dinghy is our social butterfly.🦋 But the fun doesn’t stop there. 🥳 Our dinghy takes us to remote beaches where we can explore caves, have a cruisers cookout, stroll around & take in all the culture, or hike on whichever uninhabited island we happen to be at! We get to see some of the coolest marine life up close and personal, all thanks to our trusty dinghy.🥰 And let’s not forget about the practical side of things. Our dinghy helps us get laundry done when we’re in places that have a laundry mat, so we can stay fresh and clean while living the salty life. ✨💦🧺 🧼 ✨ From finding live music🎤 🎶 to doing a little dancing🕺🏽💃🏼, our dinghy is our ticket to freedom and endless possibilities. We definitely couldn’t live this life without her. While we were exploring the city of Antigua we spotted a large cross up in the mountains and thought it might be a cemetery, but after a little research, we learned that it was actually a popular landmark offering panoramic views of the city and surrounding villages. We decided to take a TukTuk, a small vehicle similar to a taxi or Uber, to go check it out.The hill was originally known as Cerro del Manchen. Mayor Guillermo Arzú Matheu built the large cross in 1930 which is devoted to the city’s saint patron. After the cross was built, the city adopted the name Hill of the Cross, or, Cerro de la Cruz. Not only do you get a stunning city view and a glimpse of famous landmarks from above, but you also have a clear sight of the three volcanoes - Agua, Acatenango, and Fuego. If you're lucky, you might witness a small eruption from Fuego, which reportedly occurs approximately every 20 minutes. Adiós Rio Dulce! Until We Return.

We’ve been in 𝑹𝒊𝒐 𝑫𝒖𝒍𝒄𝒆, 𝑮𝒖𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒂 for almost a month now & although we are excited to go spend time with family & friends for a little while, we are also so sad 😢to be leaving this 𝑏𝑒𝑎𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑢𝑙 country that we have enjoyed so much! The ᖇIO really accommodates to the cruising community and there is just so much to do here, from 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒂 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔 & 𝙏𝙖𝙘𝙤 🌮𝙏𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙙𝙖𝙮𝙨 all the way to Sunday popcorn🍿& 🎥movie afternoons! We have loved 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 bit of it, not to mention the wonderful people we’ve met (we’re going to miss them the most🥰!)!! However, our little crew is on the bus heading to 𝑮𝒖𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒂 𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒚 then onto 𝓐𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓰𝓾𝓪 for a few days where we will explore another part of this ᑲᥱᥲᥙ𝗍і𝖿ᥙᥣ country before we all jump on a plane ✈️and head back to 𝚃𝙴𝚇𝙰𝚂! If you’ve ever wondered what it l👀ks like when 16 cruisers get together for a 𝑻𝒂𝒄𝒐 🌮 𝑻𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒅𝒂𝒚… here ya go! 😂 But seriously, what a f̆̈ŭ̈n̆̈ evening! There’s just something about getting together with 𝒔𝒐 many that “speak your language!” Conversations just flow and the fact that you can relate to every sailing story being told (especially the ones that are definitely ᑎOT the rainbows & dolphins kind🥴) is hard to explain to those who don’t live life on the hook! It was so fun celebrating the fact that Beau and Brandy Sailing Saoirse finally made it to 𝓖𝓾𝓪𝓽𝓮𝓶𝓪𝓵𝓪 🥳 and everyone did a b҉a҉n҉g҉ up job with the food! As full-time cruisers we are constantly looking towards the next hurricane season and where we need to be by the beginning of July through the end of November. This hurricane season we made the decision to head to Rio Dulce, Guatemala! We have heard wonderful things about the area, how they accommodate and host many activities for the cruising community, and how there are plenty of options for a marina that will fit your needs. Some other cruisers had told us they stayed at Monkey Bay Marina so I did my due diligence and went to their website to check it out! It seemed like a great fit for us, so we contacted them and reserved a slip! But we were NOT expecting the marina property to be so beautifully maintained with wonderful amenities! Heavy Hearts This Morning

As we wake up to this beautiful scenery this morning, our hearts are hurting for so many. One of the 3 islands that make up Grenada, Carriacou, has been devastated by Hurricane Beryl. The destruction is just beyond belief. As I scroll through my social media I’m bombarded with horrific pictures and videos of homes with roofs ripped off, buildings lifted off the ground and thrown around like doll houses, so many floating homes toppled and crushed like toy ships being thrown by a toddler playing in the bathtub. Just. Complete. Devastation. Sadly, Beryl isn’t done making his point, so we continue to pray for safety for all those still in his path. Although we may not be able to do anything physically for those who have been affected, I fully believe in the power of prayer & if you do also, join with me. If not, whatever good vibes, positive thoughts, good mojo you can send their way I’m sure is appreciated.

Half Way There!

Just a quick update! We are anchors down half way up the river in “Texan Bay” All is well! More of an update tomorrow but we are starving and tired! Off to Texas Mikes to grab some dinner then nighty night! Thanks for everyone’s thoughts & prayers! We appreciate each and every one of you!
