Fire breaks out in dadaompora Chadoora

Budgam, Sep 16 (KNO): Five residential houses were gutted in a massive blaze that broke out in Mukam Dadompora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday evening.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the fire broke out at one of the residential houses and later engulfed another four nearby houses.
He said that during the blaze, the residential house's belonging to Muhammad Yaqoob Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar, Bashir Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohiudin Dar, Ghulam Rasool Dar son of Ammi Dar, Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh, son of Muhammad Sheikh and Bashir Ahamd Sheikh, son of Ghulam Muhammad Sheikh were damaged, adding that the property worth lakhs got damaged.
The official said that as the fire broke out, the teams of Fire and Emergency Services reached the spot to douse the flames, however, five residential houses suffered extensive damage, adding that the fire was later brought under control by fire and emergency department with the help of police and locals.
He said that police have taken cognisance of the matter.
Meanwhile, locals appealed to the district administration to rehabilitate the affected families—(KNO)

Shimla, Jul 25: Eight people were killed and four others injured in multiple landslides in Himachal Pradesh''s Kinnaur district on Sunday, police said.
Multiple landslides occurred near Batseri on Sangla-Chitkul road, they added.
Heavy boulders fell on a tempo traveller carrying 11 people and of them, eight were killed and three were injured, according to the police.
In a similar incident, one person was injured in another landslide in Kinnaur district, they added.
The police said they have started rescue operations and further details are awaited.—(PTI)

Srinagar, May 08: In a shocking incident, two men from Gujar community were attacked by hooligans in Jammu district on Thursday night when they were returning to their home with a pair of oxen they had purchased from a neighbouring village.
As per news agency (KNO), interestingly, the video of the incident has gone viral on social media, evoking tremendous criticism and anger as blood could be seen oozing from the wounds of injured men.
Muhammad Siddiq and his cousin Amir Hussain of Gorda village in Jammu district were injured by hoodlums when they were returning to their home alongwith a pair of oxen they had purchased a few days ago.
“We were attacked by a group of hooligans when we were returning home alongwith a pair of oxen. We pleaded with them that we are not cattle traders but they did not listen and thrashed us mercilessly. We were beaten up savagely,” says Muhammad Siddiq.
“They police came later and rescued us from their clutches. On seeing our condition, they later took us to hospital.”
Both the injured are presently undergoing treatment at Government Medical College, Jammu.
The attack on Gujjar men triggered widespread condemnation from different quarters with political parties and activists from the tribal community seeking punishment for the accused.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir police has registered an FIR number 36/2021 under section 307, 341, 323,147 IPC against the hooligans.
“We have arrested five persons in connection with the incident,” an official said.

An avalanche was reported in Uttarakhand’s Raini village in Tapovan area on Sunday. It was caused after a part of a glacier broke at Joshimath in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district.
The avalanche was soon followed by a massive rise of water levels in the Dhauliganga river, which resulted in several houses being destroyed in the area.
As many as 150 labourers who were working on a power project in the area are missing, at the moment. Rescue operations are underway.
Floods have also been reported in Joshimath area.
According to reports, the floods have uprooted many houses in the area, leaving scores injured.
