Ashley & Jack’s wedding was the last of the season for us - and it went out with a bang! These two are the sweetest couple ever. For the past few years, they’ve made their relationship work long distance with Jack being in the military. They decided to write their own vows, and let me tell you, there was not a single dry eye during their ceremony (including ours)! We had so much fun filming their wedding and love that they welcomed the Star Media Weddings crew with open arms as if we were invited guests. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. King, we’ll be counting down the days along with you until you both can live together full-time!

As wedding videographers, we become such an integral part of our couple’s day. This means following them around from getting ready, to watching the first look, being there throughout the whole ceremony, and celebrating the night away. In a day, we get to learn so much about a couple and their love for each other! With Katie and Nathan, we got to experience their love and silliness first-hand. From singing to each other during their couple photos, to their flirtatious comments, the cute butt pats while waiting to see each other for the first time, and more - these two absolutely melted our hearts! It was such a pleasure working with you both, congrats Mr. & Mrs. Barthel! 🤍🤍🤍

Steph & Dj’s wedding day was absolutely perfect. Gorgeous weather, relaxed and fun, a wedding party that loved to celebrate, funny and emotional speeches, and one of the BEST golden hour sessions we’ve ever had! It was such a blast getting to watch these two celebrate their love for one another and learn about their history as friends from MIDDLE SCHOOL to now husband and wife! 💕

It’s always so special filming a wedding based on the recommendation of a previous couple. 2 years ago, we filmed Sabrina (Steph’s sister) & Jake’s wedding and we loved having a little reunion with the fam and catching up on what has happened in the last 2 years!

Gabby & Lee had one of those highlight videos that was REALLY fun to edit! They are such a carefree, fun couple that is SO in love with each other - and it shows. As we were going through our footage, I think every few minutes we exclaimed something like “Oh my gosh!! This shot!”

Being a part of Lauren & Ryan’s wedding day was SO special because this day was a long time coming! With having to reschedule the wedding due to the pandemic and the long friends-to-lovers story that is straight out of a romance novel, this day was perfect in every way! Katie & Nathan… especially after this engagement session, we cannot wait for your wedding in October! We went on an excursion to Minnehaha Falls to capture some dreamy golden hour pictures to commemorate Katie and Nathan’s engagement and we are in LOVE with the results! They chose our “Dark & Moody” editing style which fits perfectly with the woodland vibes in these photos 🖤🌲 We highly recommend engagement sessions because it allows us to build up our relationship with the couple, get them more comfortable in front of the camera, and practice posing before the Big Day (plus these work great for wedding invitations/save the dates!).

First looks before the wedding ceremony have become really popular, and for good reason! It’s such a sweet and intimate moment shared between you and your spouse-to-be to connect before the ceremony. This moment is often the couple’s favorite photos and video of the entire day! If you’re thinking about doing a first look but want to make it a little bit more special, we wrote a blog post on creative first look ideas!

Maybe you don’t want to ruin the surprise of seeing each other before the ceremony but still want to connect, you could hold hands around the corner and talk. For tight-knit families, it can be just as much of an emotional moment to do a first look with a parent or other member of your family. We also love the creative ideas - maybe involve balloons or something else really extra.

It’s not a common occurrence when a couple feels completely comfortable in front of the camera. For most of us, we’ve only had professional pictures taken a couple times in our entire lives. Leading up to getting your engagement/wedding photos taken, it’s normal to feel nervous.

We recently posted a blog giving a few of our tried and true tips to get more comfortable posing in front of the camera. Here are the cliff notes:

1. Find example poses and practice them in front of the mirror. You may feel ridiculous but the poses will look much more relaxed when it’s time to do the real thing!

2. Bask in the romance of the big day! Getting engaged and then getting married is such a huge milestone for your wedding that it’s easy to get wrapped up in your emotions. Remember to look into your partner’s eyes and feel the love that brought you two together.

3. Laugh through the awkward moments. The beginning of a shoot may feel a little awkward - just remember to laugh and be silly. Before you know, you’ll be feeling much more comfortable in front of the camera.

4. Remember to smile! This may seem obvious, but it’s easy to get caught up in the wedding festivities and forget why you’re there in the first place. Smiling will help ease your tension and bring you back to the moment. Don’t worry, your photographer will remind you to smile!

5. An engagement session is a great way to get comfortable being in front of the camera and working with your photographer. Try mimicking an everyday activity or a shared hobby during the shoot that will bring you comfort. If this isn’t possible, bring along some props that will put you at ease and take (some) of the focus away from you.

We LOVE wedding season! Warm weather, beautiful dresses, friends and family celebrating love… Hannah and Steven’s woodsy wedding was absolutely gorgeous and we can’t wait to show you more pictures! For now, here’s an editing time lapse showing off the ring. We brightened and warmed up the photo, added a little bit of vignette to bring focus to the ring, desaturated the greens, darkened the shadows, and added a little bit of grain for an old-timey feel. We are in love!🖤
