I'm thrilled to announce that this summer, I'll be heading back to Grand Rapids to join the weather team at WZZM 13 On Your Side. I am so grateful for this opportunity and can't wait to be at the same station I grew up watching.
Until then, I'll still be in Michiana for a few months! My last day with ABC57 will be in late June.

She's outside of Brandywine Community Schools Brandywine Elementary where a few Berrien County Sheriff's deputies just pulled up.
Parents and Students: Police are on scene as Niles High School and Brandywine Community Schools Brandywine Elementary were targeted by a threat this morning.
ABC57 is live with what we know so far at 8:30 AM.
UPDATE (11:26 am, Brandywine): The K9 team and law enforcement have conducted a sweep of all buildings including Brandywine MSHS, Brandywine Elementary, Merritt Elementary, and BIA, and have deemed all buildings safe to hold classes in. An investigation is ongoing as to where the threat originated from. Brandywine Community Schools will operate today, March 27, as normal but with a lockdown in place out of an abundance of precaution. We will notify the community with a formal letter once the investigation is complete and the lockdown has been lifted.
UPDATE (10:26; BRANDYWINE): A sweep of Merritt Elementary has been completed by law enforcement and their K9 team and it has been deemed safe to enter for the school day for both students and staff. Law enforcement will be on hand today and we will, as always, monitor ingress and egress with vigilance. The teams will now complete a sweep of BIA.
UPDATE (9:47; Brandywine): A sweep of Brandywine Elementary has been completed by law enforcement and their K9 team and it has been deemed safe to enter for the school day for both students and staff. Law enforcement will be on hand today and we will, as always, monitor ingress and egress with vigilance. The teams will now complete a sweep of Merritt Elementary and we will update you once they complete that sweep as well.
UPDATE (9:45 AM; Niles Schools): This morning Niles Police received a threat towards Ballard Elementary, Niles High School, and Brandywine Elementary. Out of an abundance of caution and due to the timing of when we were informed, Ballard Elementary was closed and Niles High School was evacuated. Due to the time needed to conduct a thorough investigation and sweep of our buildings by emergency personnel and an abundance of caution, we are closing Niles High School today. All other buildings in the district will have restricted access until we receive further notification from emergency personnel.
UPDATE (9:12 AM; Brandywine): An update on today's school day. A sweep of Brandywine MSHS has been completed by law enforcement and their K9 team and it has been deemed safe to enter for the school day for both students and staff. Law enforcement will be on hand today and we will, as always, monitor ingress and egress with vigilance. The teams will now complete a sweep of the other district buildings and we will update you once those are complete as well.

OP: The City is aware of a threat at local schools including Niles and Brandywine.
I have spoken with Dr. Applegate and they are working with emergency personnel to resolve the issue. They are communicating with parents and staff as quickly as possible.

Where am I from? I am a proud local! I grew up in Granger, Indiana. As I attended Indiana University Bloomington, this turned into “I am from South Bend.” On vacations I pull the old “Notre Dame area.” Basically, I know this area, it is part of me, and I am passionate about its community.
I am an up-and-coming multimedia journalist and joined the ABC57 News team in August of 2019. This is my first job outside of graduating college and I could not be more excited to start here, in my own backyard!
I am a proud alumna of Indiana University’s Media School. In May of 2019 I graduated with a Journalism degree and specializations in News Reporting and Editing, along with a minor in Sociology-- I will forever love my Indiana Home.
Not only do I bleed cream and crimson, but Irish blue and gold run through my veins. I was born and raised right here in Michiana and went to Christ the King and Saint Joseph High School. Like my name suggests, I love sunshine and heat along with all things water.
Outside of work-- I love going on drives, visiting our beautiful northern neighbor Michigan, spending time with my big, amazing family, and all things cheetah print.
Now that you know about me, I want to learn more about you! I learned that journalism was for me when I realized that it is the perfect sphere to meet and learn people’s stories. It matters to me what stories I work on and I want them to be things that you care about!
