Using the poppy theme in a new way, the Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce is hosting a community art project for Veteran’s Day called The Poppy Project that will honor service members with a blanket of crocheted flowers created by members of the community. The Waynesville - St. Robert Area Chamber of Commerce will host the Community Leadership Award Banquet on Friday, February 16, at The ARK Community and Sports Center with social hour beginning at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. This annual event recognizes civic and non-profit organization leaders who have exhibited notable leadership, dedication, and hard work in the Waynesville-St. Robert community. The Chamber will present the Citizen of the Year Award, in addition to Community Non-Profit of the Year, Educator of the Year and other Community awards.

Waynesville R-VI School District reports that city crews are working to repair a water main break and water pump in Waynesville, which have temporarily left Waynesville Middle School, Waynesville Sixth Grade Center, Parker Educational Center and the administration building without water.

Additional bottled water and hand sanitizer are being delivered to these buildings.

School will dismiss as normal this afternoon (Jan. 24, 2024). After school activities will be held this afternoon, as water is expected to be restored to the schools this afternoon.

Students who attend Waynesville Middle School, Waynesville Sixth Grade Center and Parker Educational Center are asked to bring a water bottle tomorrow, in the event that a boil order may be issued.

The classes are taught at the St. Robert Municipal Center every Tuesday beginning with a free “Fun Night” on Jan. 9 and 16 at 7 p.m. Each class is about two hours in length.

Chief Warrant Officer 4 Jared DeLaney, the band’s commander and bandmaster, said doors will open at 6 p.m. Dec. 12 at Nutter Field House. The holiday concert is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and last about an hour.
“This year, the 399th Army Band will feature its many music teams, such as our Rough Riders Rock Band, the Route 66 Brass Band, the Double Time Jazz Combo, and our quintets, the Missouri Brass and Ozark Winds,” he said.
