Happy Friday!
Let’s meet the hosts of the show, and today it is
Star October. Make sure to check in on November 1st for video and audio release of some wild rides

A little about Star October, to start, she legally changed her name a year ago to escape the burdens of her past. She was born to two alcoholic parents, one of whom made immense before his death, and started to teach Star about Buddhism and how to live a life of love and enlightenment. Her father died when she was 19 and pregnant with her second child. At the age of 22 in October of 2004, she was in a terrible car accident on her way to work. She was speeding in the rain, and suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury and was in a coma for two months. Her doctors said she would probably spend the rest of her life in a nursing home if she survived. She spent almost a year in the hospital, and was in various hospitals and every time she went to a different hospital, she met with a team of doctors to go over her plan of care. She had got so used to the doctors telling her she would never be able to do this or that ever again, from walking to living on her own, that when she was in the last hospital and met with the last team of doctors, one of the doctors asked what they could do to help her the most, she replied with “tell me I can’t do something” because everything they told her she couldn’t do, she strove to prove them wrong. When she finally got out of the hospital, she was thrown into raising her two small children on her own. All the help and team of doctors and nurses were gone. No family to help, a traumatic brain injury and being a young mother with mental illness to boot, she spent years trying to fight mental illness, and being a young single mother all on her own. She did have some really close friends and her sister to try and check in and encourage her. In 2019, after going through a total hysterectomy and a teen son who had encountered serious legal troubles, she gave up, got rid of most her belongings and her apartment in Florida, moved back to Kansas City and started going to alanon for support for her son and parents who were addicts and alcoholics. She started a new journey to work on herself, and put a serious effort to work on becoming the person she wants to be. She lost a lot of weight, got rid of her cane and electric wheelchair, she got a job in security and was promoted twice, and is in her first relationship in over a decade. When asked to describe what kind of ride she would be, she says she is like a house of mirrors, going down wrong paths and thinking she was going the right direction, just to have to go back and start over. She finally feels she is on the right path and is going on a good direction, to be continued.
