There was a time when I had the rizz. And lived like it.

Chest poppin out and errthang. When I finished seminary I was READY to bring Bonhoeffer’s Life Together into the world around me.

Spiritual abuse is like poison whose effects you don’t notice until your life is perplexingly miserable.

But God’s grace is sufficient to reinstate you and make your bones live (Ezekiel). There’s always time in the clock for him to make a way out of what seems like no way.

Never give up on God’s children because he ain’t giving up on you.

If you made it this far, know this:

1. God loves you
2. Little by little, you can move closer to being the person you wanna be proud of
3. You don’t have to change your whole life in a year
4. Just keep trying. Something new can happen today.
5. Metaxs’s Bonhoeffer bio is trash.

This catches me off guard because MY first thought when I step outside was, “why is it so hot?”

Another thought that comes to mind is, “wait until you have bills to pay!”

But in that moment, when I hear the enthusiasm in his toddler voice JUST for going on a walk together…

He’s right. It IS a good day to be alive because:

- I’m alive
- I have a great relationship with my family
- I have the money TO pay those damn bills
- I’ve got friends and family who love me
- I have a good head on my shoulders
- I know the proper uses of “I” and “me” depending on subject or object

And so much more.

I hope you rediscover the blessings that make today a great day to be alive for you.

I’ve been real quiet/sporadic lately. But the one thing I’ve been doing consistently is gain weight 😆

One more belt loop left before I need a new belt.

Dad bod/father figure - whatever it’s called, I’m at the point where I can feel the top of my belly on my moobs when I sit down.

My Uber driver hugged me this morning. It was the best Uber drive ever.

His name is Yusuf.

He asks me where I was from and I tell him I’m 🇰🇪 and he tells me he was from 🇲🇦

Then he turns on his Apple Music and plays a bunch of African music, asking me each time if I know the song.

I don’t know any of them.

But the thing is, I’ve been looking for more music from the motherland, and I Shazam a bunch of the songs that play.

When the ride is over, he gets out to get my bag from the trunk but I only have my weekender bag.

So I put my hand out and dap him up. He grabs my hand (solid dap, IYKYK) and brings it in and we hug.

Human connection is a great thing. Stay open to the moments. “If you’re looking for it, you’ll find it.”

Your biggest strength and your biggest weakness are two sides of the same coin.

For example, I’m impulsive, and often make decisions without really thinking a lot about how my action affect other people.

Like that one time I spent $3,000 on Facebook leads because I was desperate. I didn’t have the money but I “just went with it” even though we were making less than $60,000/year.

I DO NOT recommend doing that!!!

But at the same time, I learned about my ability to make decisions quickly and seize opportunities by trusting my gut and my skills to find a way.

That’s what saved me when I lost my job in September 2023, where I ended up earning MORE per month as a part-timer/freelancer than I did with a “steady” 9-5.

Middle of the pack. 9:08 pace for my first ever race 🏃‍♂️

I ran the Thanksgiving Day 10K yesterday.

It was my first race ever and it was soooooo good!

I appreciated it so much more on deeper level seeing how many parents ran with their kids, and the interactions they had.

I saw parents:
- stop when their kids said they didn’t feel well
- release their kids to run their race even if it meant leaving mom/dad behind
- parents giving their kids a gentle push to persevere through a tough patch

One of my favorite interactions was a dad whose kid said they were struggling. He said, “it’s ok to slow down and see how your body is doing. Great job listening to your body.”

Honestly seeing parents with their kids gave me so much energy and motivation to push myself.

But more than that- it reminded me of my dad who learned to play golf because my brothers and I liked playing it.

He’d been battling cancer for 10+ years at that point, but one of my core memories is going on a father/son golf trip to a local course. We were both terrible, but I’d never felt so appreciated by my dad up to that point.

Seeing parents and kids running together yesterday reminds me of my desire to be active with Max as he gets older. To run races; go to the gym; go golfing; hiking; play soccer—whatever he wants to do!

So on to the next one! See y’all in the highlights 🏃‍♂️✌️

5,000 is a lot of people.

I can’t believe I’ve hit this number and I’m so thankful for each and every one of you 🥹

I realize a lot of y’all may not know anything about me except that I talk about our $200 water bill while my wife is taking a a dump 😂

So a little bit about me:

I’m a Kenyan-born American. I grew up in Nairobi until I was 11 years old when my family immigrated to the States.

Soccer is my favorite sport: played it all throughout high school and a year into college.

I’m a content creator, strategist, former Christian missionary, and former realtor.

I LOVE theology. So much so that I got two masters degrees from Gordon-Conwell seminary before meeting and marrying my wife

Speaking of my wife, I love her immensely. She’s the activator in my jerri curl; the gluten in my bread; the corn in my bourbon—she’s my everything.

We have one handsome, incredible son together, who brings joy, intensity, and compassion into our family.

I hope you stay for more family fun! And stay even longer for more marriage and parenting stories and IG Lives coming soon.

Don’t get me wrong: I *wanted* it to happen 😂 but it was never a goal.

All I wanna do is spread positivity and shine the light of fondness, appreciation, and the blessings of family and marriage.

I’m grateful for every person that’s viewed, engaged, and spread the LIFE with others. I love y’all 🥹

Many guys think “doing my part” means “doing what I prefer to do”I cleaned the floors and wanted to take a break This happened today. I had finished cleaning the floors and wanted to take a break because I was spent from 15 minutes of working. Then I remembered when @genevieverosemusau and I were talking to Max earlier today about how we were going to ALL do our part this weekend to clean. She gave me one task. And took on the remaining 15 errands to keep the house the way she likes. I felt tired ONE TIME doing ONE errand. So I got my head out of my 🍑 and did my part.
