A man accused of brutally murdering two Cape Coral women has been writing to NBC2 for months. Wade Wilson has been in jail since 2019, awaiting trial for the murders of Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz.

Today the Lee County Sheriff’s Office held. Press conference to announce the finding of human remains consistent with Lauren’s physique, age, and time since passing. While they could not say with 100% certainty that the remains they found were Lauren’s, they believe them to be. Summary of Press Conference held today, 10/13/21

1. Human remains, strongly believed to be those of Lauren, were found on 10/5/21 off Pine Island Rd in a vacant, wooded lot. Remains are consistent with Lauren. Sheriff Marceno stated the remains are that of a female, with small stature, and age is between 30-50 years old. Sheriff Marceno stated the remains have been there for more than 6 months but less than 5 years.

2. Missing Persons and Major Crimes Unit will be assuming the investigation along with CCPD and LCSO.

3. While the departments are highly confident this is Lauren, dental records, or a DNA profile, must be conducted to 100% confirm Lauren's identity.

4. Sheriff Marceno asked for any dental office in Staten Island, that conducted a tooth extraction 10 years ago, to make contact. The more expeditious method to positively confirm this is Lauren are dental records; however, if they are unable to be obtained, skeletal DNA will be utilized.

5. The following efforts were recognized by Chief Sizemore:
-1000 personnel hours
-12 search warrants, with one as recent as 2 weeks ago
-225 collected evidence
-Approximately 100 interviews
-Approximately 110 tips followed up by CCPD

6. Sheriff Marceno concluded the conference stating that "everyone will work together and will leave no stone unturned." He urged anyone who has any information to come forward.

1 year (and 1 day) later.... My heart continues to break for Lauren Dumolo and all the people who truly love her (even strangers). We want justice, we want truth, we want to !

For 365 days, I have thought about going to Cape Coral and even looked at plane tickets...

Everyone say a prayer for Cassie Carey and the Dumolo family and pray that Lauren is found so that justice can be served!
