I’ve spent my career telling you when a storm is coming. But I’ve never told you the whole story about the one that changed everything.

For much of my career, you knew me as the meteorologist standing in front of the weather map.

You saw the storms.
The hurricanes.
The warnings.
The forecasts.

You watched me tell you what was coming.

But there is so much more to that story than what you saw.
There were some things I shared at the time. There were other things I couldn’t put into words yet. And yes, there even more things that took years to understand myself.

That’s why I wrote WIND SHIFT.

My memoir comes out October 13.

And over the next seven weeks, I’m going to start sharing the story behind the story.

After I nearly lost my life in 2022, many of you said "you should write a book." So I did. ;) . .

It’s official. ❤️

One day, I was on television. The next, I was fighting for my life.

But that story begins much earlier—with a young girl who was too terrified to speak in class.

Wind Shift: An Unexpected Illness and a Life Shaped by Detours is my first book—and the most personal work I’ve ever written.

It’s a memoir about the life that unfolded between that shy beginning and an illness that nearly took it all away—and the fight to find my way back to truly living.

It takes you behind the scenes of television news, through career detours I never saw coming, and into some of the most vulnerable moments of my life.

A powerful nor’easter is hitting parts of the East Coast Sunday into Monday, bringing heavy snow, blizzard conditions, coastal flooding, and dangerous travel. New York City has already issued a travel ban from Sunday night into Monday afternoon, and more restrictions are expected across the region.

Make sure you’re prepared: charge devices, gather supplies, check heating fuel, and bring pets indoors. And remember — after the storm, the dangers aren’t over. Shoveling injuries, slips on ice, falling snow/ice from roofs, traffic accidents, and carbon monoxide risks all spike after major storms. Stay safe, stay warm, and stay alert.
